ram gets eaten VERY quickly

Is it just me or is everyone else also using a task killer every 30min or so.
I can't even get through a game without having to quit to kill tasks.

That's why i freeze apps that i don't use everyday. Plus Facebook, Facebook runs no matter what.

I have Android assistant set to clear every thirty minutes. Keeps it around 230 free.

I used to use it a lot. But I deleted it. Now if my phone is running slow, I just use a feature on Go Launcher where you can kill the apps that are running. Its in the app drawer tab called "Running".

Task killers are worthless, let Android manage memory and background apps the way it is designed to. Those task killers cause your battery to get eaten up faster because once you close an app it will get loaded back up so it can update stuff in the background.

Real World Test Show That Android Task Killers Are Still Useless

We've talked about why you shouldn't use task killers before: Android memory doesn't work like PC memory, so clearing it out won't help your speed or battery life, and it could even kill processes you want to keep open. PC World actually did some real-world experimentation to back this up, trying out Advanced Task Killer on five different Android phones.

I've tried this so many times and my memory drops below 100Mb very quickly and never recovers. My phone runs slow as hell and Android dont manage ish. And I don't have anything on my phone, "most" of the stock stuff is gone and I keep very few apps on my phone so I cant imagine someone that has all their system apps and a bunch of user apps.

From what I've seen, metro's memory manager is useless and freeing up RAM is the only thing worth anything when it comes to memory. Everyone can think that task managers are "BAD" for your phone, but my phone consistantly stays above 200Mb free in memory. :D

wat all do you have running in your background?

I don't really have anything running. I don't have Facebook.
The only srock apps I have are the absolute bare essential:
contacts, phone, messaging, and a couple of other games.
I use Permission Denied Pro. I also use Gemini app manager
To disable most auto- features in the apps I have.
Right now, as I am writing this my keyboard is delayed about half a sec. on each key press.
Any suggestions as to what else can be remove from my system without endangering functionality?

Ok. I found the culprit . it was chrono trigger. I don't know why it was running but its gone now. thanks everyone.

This is the reason I don't user apps for everything. Especially fb. I use dolphin HD, with shortcuts to Facebook. Add dolphin desktop toggle and it becomes very usable, and actually closes when I close it! Maps is another one that keeps running. Haven't figured out how to really stop it. Except to just not start it. Would remove it, but I find it useful occasionally.

Btw. Running #2 ROM. Always have 200+mb available. Running up to 26hrs on a single 3500mah battery!

While we're on the subject of RAM, I always wanted to know why the available RAM listed in Application Manager is always different from the amount it tells you in Settings--Applications--Running Services (or by going to Manage Apps from the home screen). Right now for example, the RAM free in running services says 142MB, but in Application Manager it says 64MB.

I think because application manager only sees the user applications and not the system applications too. Cause you don't see "Android System" in application manager but you do in running services
