Help Random Reboots already!

I just had my first. I looked over when my phone lit up, and sure enough it was the HTC startup screen. I will def have to keep track of that. I only have Handcent and Twitter installed currently, otherwise all stock.

Added: And I just had my 2nd for today. Maybe they are working on something that is causing this?? This is the first issue I have had with the phone since I got it. :(

Just did a factory reset to see if that corrects the issue.

After the reset, I've noticed that the 3G is slow as hell now. Used to I could download a 2MB app in the market in 20 or 30 seconds, maybe even faster. Now it takes minutes, with an "S".

I don't know if this was the reason... but I uninstalled Beautiful Widgets and it hasn't rebooted since. (I had the 4x1 weather widget on a homepage, if that matters)

Anyone with random reboots also have Beautiful Widgets installed?

Strike that. Started a reboot loop this morning. :dies-inside:

If it happens again today, I'll take it back today. Corp. store is just around the corner from work.

I guess we all sort of asked for trouble when we go out and get a phone as soon as it comes out. Especially when the phone was not completely ready yet.

lol True, but I haven't had a single issue until this reboot nonsense. I can only hope I don't get a lemon for a replacement.

Well I had my first one this morning playing angry birds. Mine however didn't reboot it just shut down. The phone went off and oddly the amber charging light came on but I was not plugged in then after about 15 seconds it went out but the phone never came back on by itself. Once I hit the power button the phone came on fine again.

No need for task killer. Get rid of it

Haven't had any issues with mine but to address the task killer part, when I was in the store with my X in my hand ( no bearing, just figured they'd know I was an Android user) and picking up the Tbolt for work, two sales people said to me, make sure you download a task killer from the market.

I cried on the inside then just said, not needed and you're passing along bad info. Sales person said no he was right and was defending it pretty heavily. I just left since there's no reason to argue the point but still scares me how many people "in the know" are spreading bad info.

Hope you find out what was causing your reboots, so far my experience with this phone has been nothing but positive.

Does anyone know of an app to track reboots?

I don't have my phone at my side 24/7 and would like to know if it is doing it randomly while I'm not looking.

Had another reboot this morning. Made note of the time so I can look in the battery info screen to track uptime and see if I am getting other random reboots.

Think I may just take the damn thing back today. I haven't installed any of the apps I had before to see if it did it again after the factory reset.

This time I had it plugged into the USB and heard the PC "ding dong" like I had connected a new device or disconnected one. Looked at the phone and sure enough. It was rebooting.

This is very annoying to say the least.

Ok, so I took mine back yeterday and received a brand new replacement. This might help someone else so here is my 2 cents. I have noticed 4 things (so far) about this new handset.. 1.The screen is brighter, even when on a lower setting and has no pinkish hue like my old one did. I never notice it until seeing that this one doesn't look like that 2. I am no longer having problems with my photos not showing up in gallery and instead going into my inbox. 3. The power button is a lot more solid, as my other one was "squishy". 4. Since yesterday at 5:30 I have had not one reboot. So for anyone who is thinking about just taking the phone back, maybe trying another one would work for you. Not saying that it will, but I love this phone already and was willing to try another one.

Added: Forgot to say that the cs I spoke with was the same one that activated our phones last Thursday. He said that he had problems with getting the sim card activated on our phones, and said that wiping and starting over should work for most people. Just passing along the info.

Ok. Now this is the oddest thing.

3 days in a row my phone has rebooted, but only early in the morning and then it's fine for the rest of the day.

Well, let me correct that. My phone actually shut off, it didn't actually reboot. It's not plugged in to anything. Just sitting on my desk.

I'll be taking this back at lunch today.

2 reboots this morning already. Time to root?

Why would you root a defective phone?

I highly doubt this is a software issue. I did the factory reset and installed no apps and still rebooted or shut down. That to me indicates a hardware failure of some sort.

I didn't care to read past the 4th or 5th post but... you have the knowledge of how to root your phone but didn't know that ATK is terrible for your phone? Interesting. If it is rebooting you need to take advantage of the 14 day DOA policy and get a new phone before you'll be relegated to a refurbished replacement. Or... take off ATK... that's probably the "root" of your problems.

I had one reboot about 2 days ago. Battery was around 47%, it was just sitting on the table for a few minutes then rebooted. When it came back up, led was orange and battery was at 17%. It stayed at 17 for a few hours and then started to go down. Hasnt happened since. Wierd?

If you would have read my posts, you would have seen that I already did that. Rooting has nothing to do with knowledge of apps within the OS. Before you start bashing my knowledge learn to read. I've been dealing with Linux for years.
