Help Random Reboots already!

Got my replacement phone today. I do notice that the power button has more of a button-like feel to it. The original, I never knew if I was pressing it or not. Took the SIM card out, placed it in the new one... everything synced up great and my apps reinstalled automagically, too.

Wiped my original phone... time to send it back to Amazon Wireless. Here's to hoping my new one doesn't randomly reboot! *clink!*

Uh oh... Just had my first random reboot. Never had one in the 7 days that I owned this phone. It happened while just sitting there plugged in to the charger. Hope its not a signal for worse things to come...

Mine seemed to happen in the morning. It would be fine and when I would get to work it would happen within the first 2 hours. Plugged in or not.

BTW. I did get my replacement this evening. Everything is good so far. I asked the rep if he had seen any other TB's come back due to that problem and he said out of the roughly 200 that they have sold so far that I was the second one returned with the reboot issue.

I had a reboot yesterday. Wondering what the most likely culprit is,... the 1.5oc, the set cpu at 245/365 when phone is locked, or the rom, The Perfect Storm. Never rebooted before, but only had this replacement phone for 3 days. Also, this was when I was unlocking phone to answer an incoming call.

For those who have exchanged your phones, were you able to keep your SD card? I mean, swap it into the new phone, so you don't have to back everything up?

Of if I'm planning on exchanging mine, should I back up my SD card first?

Yes, you can keep your old sd card. I would still back it up, though.

This is an old topic but I am having reboot issues. Does anyone have a fix? I am running a stock phone, no root, with Android 2.2.1. I have no task killer apps. Could this be another app I have installed causing the issue?

Why would you root a defective phone?

I highly doubt this is a software issue. I did the factory reset and installed no apps and still rebooted or shut down. That to me indicates a hardware failure of some sort.

I would have to disagree with you, i had a Droid 2 that rebooted, 3 devices later and all reboots, i am now in my second TB and this thing reboots more than Charlie Sheen curses. In fact, while surfing this site in the last 1 hour, she rebooted three times. 6 so far that i know of this day.

This is a software issue and that is why HTC and VZ are saying there is a OTA coming in that will fix it.

This.. ^

When the carrier actually comes around to making an announcement of the issues addressed in an OTA we know it's either a software issue directly, or indirectly (as in overheating with camera, etc). Software tweaks can cure some hardware issues, but in the final analysis it has to do with poor software parameters and deployment on that hardware in the first place.
