My local field has just been completely redone. It is now a stadium instead of a field but a lot of history went with the old field. Satchel Paige even graced the field a few times. It was the home of the NBC tournament for most of my life and I was there to see many a game there. It was a triple A field for many years as well. Great and cheap entertainment. My dad was a huge B-ball fan so we spent many a night together watching games. Great times and memories. Our new stadium has not hosted a game yet. We have some sort of team calling it home but they did not play this year though the field is ready. I hope to take in some games in the future. I hope that you and yours will love your new facility and build memories that will also last a lifetime.

The Red Sox Triple A affiliate is moving from Pawtucket, RI to Worcester, MA. It is really only 15 minutes closer (20 minute drive instead of 35). There is a lot of history with the PawSox including the longest professional game ever played. I hope they don't jack up the prices too much for parking (formerly free) and tickets (formerly $8). I know they will have to go up some because $100mm stadiums need to be paid for, but it's still family entertainment.
As far as historic fields, where my son plays Babe Ruth baseball was actually a host for a game between the Yankees and Red Sox between the end of the season and the start of the World Series in 1946. Names like Ted Williams, Lefty Grove, Joe DiMaggio, etc. plied the field where he plays today.
