Random Thought Thread

I was just looking through the list of "people I might want to connect with" on LinkedIn, it's really interesting to see some of the men from the company I worked at 6-7 years ago look so different (some I haven't seen for longer if they had moved on before I was laid off from that job). Most of the women look about the same, but the men who were really thin or had a full head of hair, suddenly are a bit thicker &/or have no hair or a lot less of it. I know we all age but it's just interesting to me that I see the biggest changes in the men.

Well, I didn't get my Driver's License until I was 20. My parents belief was that I had absolutely no need of a Driver's License while I was in High School, because the school busses could take me to and from school, and I could get rides from friends when I had football practice.

Also, my first job right out of High School was only about 2 miles from my home, so again, my parents saw no reason for me to get a Driver's License.

My point is that, at some point, when your adult children is unable to get to work or college classes without a Driver's License, they will get one.

Now, if someone were to walk up to me & say "you're stupid" to my face, I might be offended, but I'm not at all offended by silly jokes like this. Knickersinatwistitis is a serious medical condition. Almost as debilitating as Rectal Cranial Inversion. Sadly, there is no known cure.

I think it's easier for women to hide their aging behind makeup and hair coloring. Let's see how they look first thing out of bed in the morning LOL.

It's a disturbing trend. I don't understand it. I would be embarrassed as hell if I couldn't drive a car. I had a roommate in college who never learned to drive and probably never will. And he doesn't live in an area with an established public transportation system, so he's always having to bum rides.

My dad was very much an adherent to the philosophy of not buying anything you don't need. There was a period when I was 15 where it was pretty certain that they weren't going to let me learn to drive until I was 18 and on my own. They came around when they realized how helpful it would be to have me driving. I was first in line on my 16th birthday to get my license. Driving represents freedom and independence to me. It means going where I want at my pleasure. No checking bus schedules, no planning routes based on how close they get to my destination. I am at nobody's mercy.
 
I think most women age better. I noticed the same thing on FB and my HS reunion etc...

Besides women actually look younger with less make up IMO

Maybe it's thinning hair that makes men appear to age faster? Hmmmm
On a side note.. Bald is quite attractive IMO as well as a slight receiding hairline
Even a touch of grey or..

They say that a male's hair typically takes after his maternal grandfather.

I hope that's true. My maternal grandfather died at 80 with a full head of hair, and it was still dark.

Which reminds me: The annual Auto Show was in Mpls. in March, which was shortly before the Will Ferrell movie "Get Hard" came out, so they were promoting it at the Auto Show. You could play a giant game of Jenga & then they gave you a free t-shirt that said "Get Hard". Umm.... no thanks, I don't need a shirt I can't even wear out in public! :rolleyes:
 
Ordered a BT keyboard for my Nexus 9.

I'll have a chance to test it out next week at a 2 day conference at the Cosmopolitan.
 
I like my little BT keyboard, but it makes me change my software keyboard back to the stock Swype... So I have to changeit back afterward
