Random Thought Thread

The dealers that work at the local casino are extremely pissed, every single one of them. The casino is in a small town and they've gotten comfortably settled in their shifts for over a decade. Last month, their beloved previous table games manager was 'invited to resign,' a nice way of saying walk right now or you're fired. Rather than choosing a qualified existing employee to take his place, the tribe that owns the casino and makes these decisions chose a complete stranger with 'Vegas' experience. That made the dealers uneasy, but they didn't know why.

Now they know why. The first thing the new manager did was announce that, regardless of seniority, all of their shifts would literally be drawn from a hat. If you've worked day shift for a dozen years, too effing bad. Underneath that was, of course, the statement 'if you don't like it, you can leave.' Right now, all of them want to leave and I'm sure several will. And that, I think, is exactly what the tribe had in mind: to rid themselves of everyone except those that put being a dealer ahead of the shift they worked, to regain complete control of their whining baby employees.

I used to deal there for a few years, was fired for unspecified reasons, and I, of all people, have a right tell them they had it coming. But they've become great friends over the years, and I feel terrible for them, seeing their livelihoods instantly shattered like that.

Anyway, if I'm going to fork out a bundle for concert tickets, then it better be worthwhile, and I think we got our money's worth.

I wobble all day long between smart and stupid, low and high brow.......Honestly Mikedt, I wanna get more language lessons, am investigating "radicals".

But for the moment, I'm totally stuck, thinkin' about an old Rodney Dangerfield joke I just heard, I'm gonna' drag the thread down for a bit.;)

Saw a commercial for Lethal Weapon the TV series. Do the people who make movies and TV shows lack creativity and imagination?
 
Lethal Weapon seems like an expensive series to do right. Plus, I think I'm getting too old for that shit. :p

Going even further back for recycled ideas, The Exorcist: The TV Series, anyone?


Side note: I know time takes its toll on us all, but what happened to Geena Davis' face? I didn't even recognize her at first, and I still wasn't sure if it was really her until they showed her name at the end. Wow.

And I completely agree that Genna Davis does look a lot different!
