I would argue that it is dependant upon how that new member is introduced.

There is at least a double entendre there, BTW

I disagree.

Well my statement was based on my experience. It seems to be up to the new person to engage in ice-breaking conversation, not the other way around.
Yes, the way the person is introduced is a factor.
But there may be cultural differences between countries, and the British may be more reserved in this respect.

Redbox customer service seems cool. Late Sunday night, I reserved a movie online (they had sent me a coupon code for .75 off a rental if I used the coupon by midnight that day) & I picked up the movie after work Monday, thinking I wouldn't be charged for it until I picked it up - since you have to return them by 9pm & I had reserved it around 11pm. Tonight after work I returned the movie (around 5pm).

Imagine my surprise when I got a confirmation email tonight showing I was charged for 2 nights! I just did an online chat with them, the rep was very nice & apologized for the misunderstanding, & asked if it would be OK if she gave me a credit for a free rental?

Sure thing! It's not really that big a deal since movie rentals are something like $1.50, but it was awfully nice of them to give me a credit, and apologize - when I'm the one who misunderstood how it works. :p

FYI: They start charging you from the time you reserve it, not when you pick it up.
