No cups (my granny's tiny cup or my morning coffee cup?), no teaspoon, no tablespoon, no inches, feet (your feet or mine?), ounces, miles.
Just good old plain millimeters, centimeters, meters and kilometers. Grams and kilograms.
One shoes size system for men, women and children. Nothing like an American five for men is unequal to a woman's vife, of a child's five.
Oh, and water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius, which makes perfect sense :)

Totally agree. Next up for decimalisation is time. I'll be there in 2 decaminutes.

@Clementine_3 , where's that bourbon?
Sitting right there on the counter for now. It's been going faster than usual since Tuesday though, better hurry over if you want some. I sincerely hope Maker's Mark has a goodly supply of the 46 in stock, I'll be needing a lot more a lot more often. And I have not been measuring in any standard metered system known to man, just free pouring like a fiend. :eek::D

I'm all for standardisation, and scrapping of ancient measuring systems. Makes things much easier for me. I already have to write conversion code for SI or Imperial units. Our American users like to see gallons and lbs. :rolleyes::)

No... I'm proposing the scrapping of all measures..

Didn't you know some deadly poisons are sold in millilitres?
Those climate change people measure the temperature in degrees!
And speaking of degrees it was foreign Babylonians who came up with the idea of having 360 of them in a circle.

Why should we have foreigners or immigrants (who I may add don't even come from our own country) impose these so called standard measures on us? We should be free to make up our own ones whenever we like.... Let's burn them all to the ground and make the dark ages great again!

Standardization would be a good thing. I would hate to think how it might effect the housing industry however. Materials are all on a standard that the framing is laid out for. I assume it would change every aspect of building a house. It would make my life a bit easier though. Finding radius for round top window trims for instance would be much easier. Equally dividing balusters within a given run of railing would be a snap too. Where the real rub comes into play is no matter which system of measurements you grew up using, you think and estimate in those measurements. Changing that is impossible.
