All these months later and thinking my dog is stupid I just realized Raphael may actually have been trained in Spanish! We were outside and he was walking in slowly so I just blurted out vamanos and he picked up his pace while wagging his tail. Aqui and/or ven appear to work too. I need to brush up on my Spanish dog commands and give this a go! Buen perro!!
It totally makes sense, he spent 4 1/2 years on the racetracks in FL. Not making any judgements but am willing to bet his handlers spoke Spanish.
