The problem, it seems to me, is that you are trying too hard to please her.
So don't. Find something she doesn't like and give it to her.
Hell, find something she absolutely hates and give it to her.
For example, say she doesn't like sweaters; never wears 'em. Find the ugliest sweater you can and give her that for Christmas.
If you peel a banana from the bottom instead of from the stalk on top - it's easier.
