My part time job has ended (I was getting too danged exhausted working a 2nd job!) - but one thing I always got a kick out of was the people using Apple Pay to pay for their groceries. 99% of the time, they'd take SO much longer trying to pay with their phone than if they'd just pulled out their credit/debit card, then after they finally paid they almost always commented how easy it was. I had to bite my tongue on numerous occasions to keep from telling them they could have been done a lot faster if they'd have just used their card!

For the record, I like tech & gadgets & I think it's cool to see some of the amazing things we can do, but in the case of paying with a phone, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

**And Google Wallet was around before Apple Pay became so popular... but due to all those Apple advertising dollars, suddenly Apple Pay is greater than sliced bread

I'll give Apple one thing. Their ability to get free advertising through the media has to be unrivaled.
Twitter spam in my email just said that Apple is projected to sell 20 million smart watches in the first year alone.

Clearly I was wrong. Apple apparently did invent the smartwatch now.

Take that, Android. :D

From macrumors, this first bit is interesting, the second bit I included just to get a rise out of people. :D

"Apple will add pressure-sensing Force Touch technology to its next-generation iPhones, reports The Wall Street Journal in an article that covers a range of new details on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Currently built into the upcoming Apple Watch and 12-inch Retina MacBook, Force Touch lets devices distinguish between a light tap and a hard press, enabling new gestures.

According to the report, which is sourced from Apple suppliers, Apple's next-generation iPhones will continue to be available in 4.7 and 5.5-inch screen sizes, with plans to "keep the resolution similar." New colors are a possibility though, and Apple is said to be considering adding a pink option to its existing space gray, silver, and gold iPhone lineup."

Force touch on a cell phone. Think about it. What could possibly go wrong? :D

That's another genius idea we'll be stuck with. :D

Meanwhile, inside sources close to the action in Cupertino revealed today that the upcoming pink iPhone was inspired by @mikedt new Apple watch.

Also reported, law schools deluged with applications at the rumor of Apple adding the gold color to its product line.

Rumors that Apple is working on smart wedding rings could not be verified at the present time.

Features already known to be included are a key finder for her, a TV remote override for him, and an undisclosed tactile sensation when the magnetic sensors of a matching pair sense contact.

In other news, Apple has filed a patent application for left-left hand holding. Germany is preparing an anti-monopoly omnibus brief for the EU courts in protest due to the fact that they wear wedding rings on their right hands.

A German spokesperson was quoted as saying, "Im Ernst, wer möchte nicht eine Person namens verrückt Mond neunundfünfzig, diese Geschichte zu beenden."

I couldn't agree more.

I don't normally comment on iStuff, but the iWatch looks like they crammed iOS on a watch with no foresight whatsoever. It is like tech first, and a watch second, even in their own marketing pics.

Help me understand, I'm confused -

Aren't all smartwatches tech first, watch second?

We had Bluetooth watches for many years prior to this.

That's a watch.

Let's review what we had 4 years ago.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you read that correctly - an Android smartwatch that had a base model of $365 and with bling, went up to $21k.

So, the entire modular pricing range concept - Android first, Apple copy.

(Free slaps for anyone surprised. Really.)

As for tech - the iWatch is jam packed with it, gotta give credit for that. It's everything but a miniature Death Star.

(Avoid food to prevent sickness listening to Ive sell the tech but otherwise an interesting view.)

I may get one of these straps and an iPod nano (screensaver includes watch) just to piss off anyone who gets in my face with an iWatch. :D

Not a smartwatch.

An iPod. :D

I don't think your part of the world has nearly as many heart attacks as here in the U.S:eek:
I think they've changed the protocol to chest compressions only now...mouth to mouth has shown to make little difference if any...( but i could be wrong...) but i doubt it:):):):)
anywhoop people were hesitant to get that close and personal considering the risks of exchanging body fluids with some random unconscious person!

It doesn't take much to be CPR certified in the US.

I was for 2 years.....and I forgot how to do it within a month of getting the card(had to for a 6 week job).

Odds are if somebody starts having a medical issue in front of me, I'm going to turn pale and pass out before I could do any damage anyway.

Do you have automated external defibrillators in public places (a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to treat them through defibrillation)?
They tell you step by step what to do. Every nutcase can do that.

We have them in the hangar and on board every aircraft. They are not, as yet, ubiquitous in public spaces, that I am aware of.

I have one in the hallway at work, though I'll tell people to not drop in front of me as I have no idea how to hook it up. They gave training when they put it in, but that was three years before I started.

I don't see any in our office.

I remember a couple years ago in college there was some hooplah about them raising our student fees to pay for defibrillators around campus after a student athlete had a heart attack or something.

I didn't respond all day, but since I just saw an iWatch commercial, I felt it was time. For me, it needs to be a watch that supplements my Android devices. The way Apple is pushing this is another iDevice that does all the iStuff and also has a watch face. If you see my posts in the Wear forums, for me, it needs to be a watch first. It's my opinion on this.
