Random Thought Thread

I had a strange dream last week about a nice Maglite that was rechargeable. It sets in a mounted charging cradle and mounts in an auto. It is old school and old tech but a great tool. (light or club) I had it mounted in a number of different trucks though the years but never mounted it in my 2014 Ram that was totaled a couple of years ago. In the dream, I was mounting it in my current truck. I very rarely remember dreams and I haven't seen or thought of the flashlight since 2014. I decided that I should take heed and find the light, put it back into working order, and mount it in my truck. I looked in all of the better places for the flashlight but couldn't find it. Today, while looking for something else, I found the flashlight behind and underneath all sorts of stuff in my 4' Liberty safe. I mounted it in my truck and need to purchase new rechargeable batteries for it.
Is that random?

Well I could not get here yesterday, had a bad server gate way error, Went out to a nearby local Chinese restaurant, and had a nice time with my cousin.
I acutally went out... yeah.

The ancient battery pack wouldn't stay charged so I ordered a new one from Amazon. It's amazing how much support and upgrades are still available for the Maglite. I could upgrade to a LED bulb and reflector lens, I found a number of vendors selling the battery pack, and the charging cradle can still be had. On reading if the old lights have a value and the answer is no. I guess every squad car in America had this Maglite mounted in it a couple of decades ago.

Yesterday I got my check and the right address was appearing:

Milo's Emporiumn 1240 Road 200 W they did put in
but it changes to 1241 Road 200 W it was the correct address.

- I got cake yesterday and I added to my already fixed up parfait, Basically keto cereal ontop of yogurt, I poilsed it off so much today.

I am really happy now. :)

i don't re-new my license for 4 more years. if i ever need to visit a federal building I'll just use my passport card.
Yeah it was about to expire anyway, it was worth the drive down to see an old person, takes out his entire family album and recites it to the Clerk, and she has this giant poker face on.

New cellphone case for my birthday yay.

I was thinking about raining on Valentine's Day and how it seems to rain on events... especially outdoor events. Years ago my wife and I ran an event in the Wichita River Festival for 19 years. Rain was always a major concern. It was a horseshoe tournament that was popular. Out of curiosity, I google searched for the tournament and actually found it mentioned.

Google: There was locally crafted art, food, and lots of events that simply don't exist anymore. There were the bathtub races, of course, but there were tons of events going on along the river and across many Wichita parks. A large horseshoe tournament comes to mind as a prime example - hundreds of people (of all ages) playing horseshoes together. Then there were even more people watching, and the festive atmosphere was palpable.

Considering the last time I had the tournament was over thirty years ago, it caught my attention. The festival committee decided they wanted all activities along the river caused me to drop the event. The nightmare of sitting up courts to play and abandon the stellar facility in place at a Wichita park was crazy.

In 2023, McDonalds turned 2.6 billion pounds of potatoes into french fries. There is approximately one third pound of potato in a large order of fries. A larger order of fries contains 330 mg of salt. 2.6 billion X 3 X 330 mg = 2,340,000,000,000 mg or 5,158,817 pounds of salt.

My random thought contribution for the day.

I had fun last night. On a suggestion from @The_Chief I was using the net to find an organization interested in a century old party invitation. The quest reminded me of a mother / daughter team I met on the net when it was young. Their hobby was to find old pictures at antique shops that had information written on the back and then use the many free genealogy sites in an attempt to find a connecting family. I had my research on all of the sites like a calling card for others to find me and to trade information. I was contacted by the pair of detectives. They had a wedding picture of a very distantly related couple that were indeed in my tree. They sent me the picture. They had a pretty unique hobby but after last night's research, I understand the fun they were having.

Well my sister's mother-in-law needed both of my sister and her husband around the clock, even though the workers at the Home for eldery people, are always working with her around the clock, funny thing she has been on fumes and will not look up at what I wanted to do today...

I am feeling pretty wonderful even though my leg and hip feels in pain most of the time.

I decided that I would revive a very nice Seiko watch that has been hanging out in my desk drawer for over a decade. I only wore the watch for dress and wore a series of Casio watches for work prior to getting into the smart watch game. I finally found the watch on Ebay to know the model and then googled up the battery it needed. I was able to find the battery at the grocery store where I shop. I installed a new battery and bingo.. back in service boys and girls. The watch is a Seiko 7T62-0AM0

The one I found on Ebay was $299. Mine is in new condition and I think that's about what I paid for the watch 25-28 years ago.

My wife was cleaning out an antique secretary we have and brought me some electronics that were inside the old piece of furniture. I'm playing with the stuff now.
I'm currently charging what I believe is a solid state mp3 player. It has a nav bar, power button, and a mini audio jack out. It is a Sansa Fuze+. I have no idea what might be on the storage. I'm guessing it was one of my daughter's. Next I have a HTC Rezound to investigate and then a HTC M8. I had a few memory sticks to look through. No great finds there. I have a couple of device specific USB charging dongles that I haven't a clue what they might mate to. Standard USB to very strange out. I'm guessing camera.. old laptop.. something we haven't seen in years.
I unplugged the Sansa Fuze+ and booted it. Two songs and ten pictures all factory installed stuff. Nothing to keep. I'm charging the HTC M8 now. I don't seem to have a cable that fits the Rezound handy.

The two phone were nothing. The Rezound still had a sim but had been wiped. The M8 was without a sim but still had data so I factory reset it. Neither are worth anything so they hit the trash. I wish I still had my HTC Incredible. Just about everyone in the family used that phone one time or another. It served me well and then was a great reliable backup. Last time I loaned it out, it never came home.
