Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

No, I did not suggest someone park a sniper on half-dome.

Frankly, I am offended that you even imply that I would say something like that. I spent twenty-one years working directly for whoever sat in the chair in the White House, and I supported that person 100%, regardless of whether I liked them as an individual or how I felt about their policies.

It is not an easy job, and if you doubt that just look how quickly they age over the course of four years. Nor are they idiots: it takes a certain amount of intelligence to be able to convince a significant portion of the United States that you are worthy of being elected to office.

Being a 'lousy' President is not worthy of the death penalty. Nor is a member of a political party that isn't the one you follow hell-bent on destroying the country.

... Sorry, some may want to send this to the politics thread, but this is pretty much an apolitical rant: I've been putting up with the same language/crap for the last two decades.

It doesn't matter who is in office, they're an idiot working hard at ruining America and doing so while almost always on vacation.

Every time I see one of these stories I feel sick to my stomach. I think adult violence against defenceless children is unforgivable, and for a father to kill his child is one of the most heinous crimes.
I know we're a civilised society, but I think hanging, drawing, and quartering, as used in medieval England would sometimes be a suitable punishment.

Wouldn't capital punishment debates be better served over in P&CA? Along with the gun ownership debates and things. ;) As an AF staff member I won't be taking part of course.

So I didn't want to start a new thread over on the N6 board, guess I will moan and complain over here instead, I know a few of you locals have an N6 and may be able to help out.

So Google announced today that official support for the N6 ends this October and I are very very sad/angry about that. Once the official updates end will there still be an option to update via custom ROMS based on the latest android builds? I am a dummy and I have never used a custom ROM so this is a serious question. I only ask because I have yet to see a phone I want to upgrade to (hopefully might change in the next 4 months) and if I am still rolling with the N6 I don't want to miss out on the latest and greatest. (Plus I like project fi and need a Nexus to partake)

We'll have custom ROMs available for years.

FWIW, it was already known that Nexus phones only get 2 years of official support(plus one year of security patches). :(

I plan to keep my N6 for at least another year.

Glad I could assuage some concerns.

I hope they release some good phones next year.

I was really looking forward to being loyal to Motorola, but after Lenovo destroyed them, I don't know what to do.

Right there with you, my last 5 phones have all been Moto but I just can't abide by the current direction of the organization.

The problem with Lenovo was the malware, spyware, depending on your abhorrence and definition, that was added to laptops.

Samsung, Sony and LG are sailing close to the wind with smart TVs. How do we know this stuff isn't being added to the phone?

I have the Pure - it is a nice phone. The few things I don't really care for are in the OS - not the hardware. I hadn't had a Moto since the RIZR, and I got pissed that Moto wanted $50 for a data cable, while others sold it at a nominal cost or gave it away.
BitPim took care of the ringtone problem.

My big apps like Ibird Pro and Mobile Observatory open right up with no hesitation.

So my rant for today...

Once again my boss was pissed off at me today for no apparent reason.

She was friendly and talkative to Everyone in the entire office Except Me.

When she arrived at the office this morning, she pleasant said Good Morning to an employee in the Break room, and I pleasantly said Good Morning to my boss, and she responded to me with "Get Out of My Face" (and I was more than 2-3 yards away from her)

She completely ignored me most of the day, and when she did decide to communicate with me, it was simply to order me around.

Everything seemed fine between her and I yesterday, and I honestly don't have any memory of doing anything to cause her to be pissed off at me.

I just don't get it.

Okay...rant over...sorry for wasting everyones time...I just need to get that off my chest.

My rant for the day... I haven't been keeping up with all of you! Life has changed for me geographically, as I'm in The Rockies now. Health-wise, it's been catch-as-catch-can. I'm now covering long distances in a very cool power chair with joystick control, and I'm married to Liz, now. We just moved into a very lovely home - OURS - and, I'm keeping on. To cool @Kaat72, @bjacks12, @Dngrsone, and everyone here: I'm still around, and receiving superlative healthcare now. Everyone back East was saying, "Yeah... we know why you're moving to Colorado..." - but, nothing could be further than the truth. No alcohol, no drugs (except the ones that are prescribed), and I'm the happiest man in the world. I promise to post here more often. Be well, everyone - LW

Glad to hear from you. I get worried sometimes when you disappear for extended times.

As far as rants, we've had a couple people quit recently at work without notice...this creates a huge workload problem for those of us who stay. I also know of one other person who is planning to resign.

All of these are people that I really enjoy working with too :(

Great to hear from you LoveWerks!

Glad to hear that you are doing well, and that things seem to be going well for you!

Stuck halfway between nowheres on a mountainside with a wheel coming of a fully loaded trailer.

Gonna cost me several hundred to flat-bed it to a (somewhat) nearby town so I can maybe get it repaired.

It's a borrowed trailer carrying someone else's household goods.
Granted, it used to be my trailer, but still...

Well the tow company only charged me an hour and a half for a two hour job, which is nice; but the RV shop can't assess the damage until the morning.

So I get to drive home, take a day off work, and come back to see how bad it is. If I'm lucky and the spindle is okay, then I might get away with only $150 or so. If I have to replace the spindle, though...
