Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

A family member was injured this morning and taken to the hospital.
I've been sitting in waiting rooms for something like eight hours now, and will likely be here for another three or four.
No idea if the family member will be staying in hospital or if I'm supposed to somehow take them home.

Wow, that's UK NHS style waiting times for A&E.
Hope everything turns out ok.

My family member ended up with a broken wrist and shattered femur, both of which required surgery (plates and rods). According to the doctor, the family member will be in the hospital "for a while".

Flat Pepsi. No more guides?
It is I, @LOveWerks - back from the dead, and greater than ever. Colorado is "home-sweet-Central City jaunts."

We have a new 4K Smart TV, which we can 'cast' to via ChromeCast or Sony Bluetooth. Huge. 65" of 4K Netflix, and since I'm the son-in-law of a high-level Comcast employee - everything's wireless - broadband 5gHz gateway up to nearly 300 Mbps - life is good. Yet -

@Liz Wonder - my wife - was just diagnosed with remit-remiss MS (RRMS).

Send some positive vibrations to Liz in The Rockies - she's down at the mouth, and needs our support. I've missed all of you immensely - I need to get caught up on things.

It's LW. Often imitated, never duplicated ;)

The new Prius. The new Escalade. Two of the most hideous looking vehicles I've ever seen. Why is everybody making vehicles with 36"+ single row vertical LED running/brake lights? Volvo, Mitsubishi Lancer wagon did this a ways back and now everyone's doing it!

Keep on keepin' on.

The new Prius. What can the designers and engineers do at Toyota for a hybrid with a high beltline, undersized wheelwells, wheels and tires to make more battery room? The car is, and has been what it is: a utilitarian, reduced carbon footprint car that really cannot be an eyecatcher.

The Cadillac Escalade - the engineers and designers at General Motors' Cadillac Devision thought:

"Ah, yes. Let's reach out to the Boomers - and, while using LED lighting - evoke the vertical taillamp and headlamp styling cues (like we've tried before) from the 1960s/70s Cadillac lineup like the Coupe and Sedan de Ville, Calais, and Eldorado - and, so they don't miss it - make the design cues so @#^*$! obvious..."

End result: whoops. With American auto brand sales slumping, be assured that they'll take it down a few notches for the 2018 lineup.

Mitsubishi... well... being the Japanese automaker that started making their mark in Japan as the manufacturer of Mitsubishi Zero World War II fighter planes (later, engine manufacturers for Hyundai/Kia - until those South Korean automakers could inventively imitate making engines for their own cars - much like the USA did for Japan after the big kaboom that ended World War II) - they have, historically, made cars that were dependable, warranty-precedent setting vehicles that had some shining moments like the 3000 GT VR4, and their popular FWD/AWD cars like the Lancer for the younger set that can make great power with four cylinders, and handle well. Still -

Mitsus have never really been pretty-to-look-at cars. They"re great bang-for-the-buck cars trying to compete in a narrowing playing field, with a competitively-priced Outlander SUV.

Volvos have tried to change their visual image since they dropped their original RWD design, went with 5-cylinder engines, optioned Haldex AWD on their FWD platform so that they could compete with the likes of Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz. They're NHTSB - top notch, safe, and good-looking cars - some styling miscues, to be sure, but - they're knocking on the aforementioned auto manufacturers' doors. It's obvious - I love cars, and though I'm a disabled musician/producer - cars are AWESOME. I turn 55 in a couple of weeks, my wife is going a huge life-changer - but, I reduce my stress and anxiety by writing.

I hope this day finds you well. ;)

Welcome back @LOveWerks , good to see you again. :thumbsupdroid:

@mikedt -

It is good to be back. Are there major changes here since I've been away? Has the UI departed from Xenforo, or is it a newer version?

Questions, questions.

Is the usual crew still around? @bjacks12, @Kaat72, and the rest? Everything just looks... different. It appears to be SSL or TLS now on the URL...

@mikedt, I hope to catch up with as many as I can. Be well, my brother :specsdroid:.

LW - back to the old stomping grounds :goofydroid:

@bjacks12 - I'm inactive, but not by choice... the power chair helps for long haul excursions. This newer version of AF seems so... antiseptic.

I wasn't a Tapatalk user, and I still don't use it - or, the new AF app - I just use a safe browser with anti-script software, safe keyboard entry, and common sense.

Hang in there, @bjacks12

Luckily, my dentist has an opening first thing in the morning. Also, i tis nice that I am not in pain... I am hoping they can put a crown on it and won't have to remove the tooth and resort to some kind of implant.

Good news! The tooth broke just right so my dentist had only to remove what was left of the old filling and put in a new one.
My wallet rejoices (and my jaw--that last crown had me in pain for weeks).

Flying stand-by.
That's where you you but a ticket, but if there's an open seat you can still fly.
This is how I have to travel when my boss send me on a road-trip.
The company is literally not allowed to buy a damn airline ticket.
Of course, many of not most domestic flights are still routinely overbooked.
So I have been stuck in Chicago all day, trying to get home.
I have three more chances tonight, and the fun thing is, the closest I can get is San Francisco, so once I get there, I'll have to rent a car to get back to home base.
On the plus side, I got my cardio in by dashing between concourses and gates because they change continuously...

Recruitment agents must be among the most unprofessional people on the planet. When you approach these guys, they obviously know that your current company will be looking to recruit in the near future, to replace you. So they might use this knowledge to approach managers within your company. This has happened to me in a previous job, the agent phoned my current manager, not knowing I worked directly for him, and asked if he knew me! This was before I secured another job and left.
I can't imagine a more low-life, unprofessional behaviour.
