Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Salespeople that apply high pressure sales tactics, and who are difficult to get rid of.

I can get rid of almost every salesperson. I stop being polite, tell them their product is crap and I will get from a competitor. Will also post why on company's review site.

Lol! I think they've met their match.
I'm way too polite. The Mrs on the other hand, well she doesn't mince words!

New topic. ( can't find out how to select new topic in forum topics. I use laptop)

The Vulcan. That man has the worst damn case of tunnel vision I have ever seen. Complete one task before doing another.

I don't take crap from salespeople.

Still waiting for my shower... the replacement part got ordered TODAY... I won't be able to get to it until next Saturday at the earliest.

If there's another delay, I'm probably going to cancel the order then go over to Lowes.

Dear real-estate agent: your job is to show houses. It is not to determine whether I have enough money to buy the house. That is someone else's job. You are not the gate-keeper, making sure the riff-raff don't invade the wrong neighborhood.

If I ask to see a house, then you should be working at getting me an appointment, not asking me if I have enough money for the down-payment before making that appointment.

Here's another thing: most people don't generally like to purchase houses without at least getting a physical look at them. Yes, it's nice that you think you can talk the owner down into my given price-range. I still want to see the property before I commit to any price, thank you very much.

This thread idea is not new, but a great thing to have around!

Need to blow off some steam? Have at it!

I'll start.

I'm sick and tired of the way my employer, "The State" handles promotions, pay, and extras, etc (for example, the window cube that opens up).

Nevermind how hard you work, or how much work you do while you're peers sit around and do nothing. Nevermind how well you know your job. Nevermind the initiative you take or the fact that you actually care about your users.

All that matters is "time in service".

It's so depressing and kills any motivation to try to do as well as you know you should and could. Because while you're kickin' butt, the guy next to you who does nothing (and knows NOTHING about his job), gets the promotion because he "qualifies" - since he's been around for years. Of course, he still comes to you for help with everything he DOES get assigned to do. But, he doesn't share that fat paycheck.

...and that, ladies and gentlemen, is what grinds my gears.

File this under, "I haven't gotten promoted and it's not my fault."

Firstly, apologies to anyone here how owns a high powered car, I'm sure you're all sensible drivers, but my observation is that car BHP is inversely proportional to IQ. Case in point, I was out with family on a walk this weekend, and witnessed two Porsche 911's tearing up the road (not together). These aren't wide open roads, but urban residential streets, with many side roads filtering in.
Pro motoring groups will say it's not speed that kills, but inappropriate speed that kills. Well sadly, I see a lot of inappropriate speed going on, and it's dangerous. Someone pulling out of a junction will not be expecting a vehicle doing 0-60 in 3 seconds, and I don't care how good those ceramic brakes are, they are not going to stop anything tanking along at that speed, with a fraction of a second reaction time available. Let's also mention pedestrians trying to cross the road.
There's also some doofus who drives around in a car which backfires louder than a chieftan tank firing rounds of ammo. I'm not kidding, you can hear this guy driving all over town from miles away, it's that loud. And the ****** invariably likes to drive around late at night.
I'd like to see a limit on car power when driven on public roads, because people just cannot be trusted to drive sensibly. Never going to happen though.

Unfortunately people that abuse high powered cars to show their prowess will simply move on to abusing something else to show their prowess. Arbitrarily banning or limiting the tool doesn't fix the problem, the idiot operating it.

Very true. People will find a way to display their idiocy no matter what measures are introduced!
Don't get me wrong, I love cars and driving fast. I just think that haring around on public roads is madness. If you wanna kill something, go to the Nurburgring and knock yourself out (probably literally).

Too bad it was Porsches. We used to get after Detroit Iron (1960 and 70) cars with overly large engines. We drove MG, Triumph, Porsche, original Cooper s, etc. They couldn't handle roads that followed cow paths.

People with ill fitting jeans, who show more than they should when bending over. Buy some bigger jeans, or tuck your shirt in, or something, just cover it up. Please!
