Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Strange it should automatically resize for the forums then...I've uploaded one that was way too large and the forums converted it for me...maybe try converting it to another format?
pulling at staws here really don't know why it wouldn't be working

You could make a thread in the suggestion box and see if someone else can set your avatar...I don't think mods can but I think Phases can...I change my avatar a lot and have never had an issue...:(

People that take bicycles on the subway, taking up room, making an already packed train even more cramped. Extremely rude and inconsiderate I think, plus I don't particularly want to get chain oil on my clothes. Thing is though, if they've got bikes, why don't they ride the things, why take the subway?

Damn drivers that can't make a left turn at a light without slowing down to 1MPH. If these people would just move a little faster, the number of cars the light is timed for could make the turn.

It's a one lane at a time left turn. The rest of the traffic in that direction goes at the same time. The other direction and its left turn go at the end of the cycle.

I was taught to corner by two drivers that raced Porsches and TR4s. I had a Spitfire and did learn to "heel and toe" Wouldn't do that with the truck. But our '94 Infiniti can corner, so I would assume that handling has been improved ever more.

My daughter passed her UK driving test with a perfect score. Very rare. She had a class B here.

Her rants about the parking brake were funny.

Those are annoying. So are the ones dawdling along 5mph or more below speed without a noticeable reason. So are tailgaters, or those impatient types who get upset if you obey traffic laws, such as letting pedestrians through the intersection.

Don't get me started on RIGHT turns!

I can put up with people doing maybe 5 miles under a speed limit, if they are consistent.

I HATE the idiots that go 5 under, to 10 over, back to 10 under - you get the idea.

The Vulcan had a fit following one of these idiots when he had cruise control on in the Infiniti.

People who resign a game on Words With Friends because they got bad letters! (The game was close, and there were over 40 tiles left...) Exchange them! Or those who resign at end of game because they can't place a tile...Pass your turn, don't resign!

Moving all the crap in the house to get it painted.

Plus we had a reverse mortgage repo across the street, and people looking for good stuff, threw everything else on the ground. We had stuff blowing all over!

Driving 30 miles in to work, having absolutely no work to do, but it is your own business so you sit there and pray for the phones to ring.

I relate, gbiggie. Not sleeping much lately, even with OTC help.

I also hate the screeching tires, because I tend to associate that sound with imminent crash.

(It is troll time!)

AMERICAN accents grinds my gears!!!

They sound like fools...

xD

Uhhmm....as a Brooklyn born girl, I have to say I agree! I listen to radio announcers that are local (Long Island) and I cringe!

I've got the perfect book, just for you Stinky.
Amazon.com: Mastering the American Accent with Audio CDs (9780764195822): Lisa Mojsin M.A.: Books

BTW I know a couple of South African English teachers that have actually had difficulty in finding good teaching positions in China, because of their dialects. Many of the better schools really want foreign teachers of American, Canadian or British nationality. Even English teachers from Australia and New Zealand have been rejected because of their accents.

Nothing wrong with your English - except that it's based on whatever century the British took over, and laced with Afrikaans and Boer plus some other tribal dialects.

Quebecois is based on 17th century French, even our American English is based on 17th Century English. Both have a lot of other languages thrown in.

Words get changed by the country. I had Italian friends whose parents mostly spoke Italian. I'd ask where so and so was, and get told "In Backouse" Backouse (back house) is NOT true Italian for a bathroom. It's Americanized.

Well, around "these parts" [insert an ole cowboy hitting the taget and the "spitooooon!" Sound byte here] folk got this NEW kind of lanuage... If'n a feller aint sure wher you frum, they ill ask "so, dew yew speak "american" or "mexican"?

Took me y'arrs to realize they are asking if a person speak english or spanish.....rofl
