As a teacher, I can assure you the sentence "Where you be at?" is not proper. I wouldn't tolerate it in class, and no, Ebonics is NOT a dialect. There is no country that speaks that language. I thought it was moronic that CA was trying to have it added as a language, and wanted it taught.

Lol... The angles saxons and jutes really disagree with your perspective of language... as a teacher.... Oh.. And do some research about ebonics. No school system or politician ever espoused teaching it. They wanted it recognized (by linguists and the federal govt.) as a codified language for the purposes of acquiring federal ESL funding. Are you an art teacher by chance?
