Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

I've mowed lawns for over 35 years and have a good sense of how the grass grows in my area. There are only two popular grasses planted here, native Bermuda and Fescue. Bermuda is best suited for the climate but it is the last to turn green, the first to turn brown, and spreads like crazy. It will grow in fences and cracks of drives and walks and is an ugly grass. It takes very little water and loves full sun. Fescue is a pretty grass but a seed only grows one plant that does not spread. It takes lots of water, has to be feed nutrients, has to be over seeded yearly, and is not hardy enough to stand up to dog and kid traffic. The restricted watering has Fescue struggling to survive and it isn't hot yet. Bermuda, for the most part, is protecting itself by remaining dormant this spring. It's been too cool and way to arid for it to turn green. Between the two slow starts, I'm skipping yards that flat don't need mowed. I've never skipped yards this time of year. Never have I seen the grasses so slow to respond to spring. I don't miss the work but it sure is messing with my mow schedule.

I worked with a guy who cut grass one summer. There were 3 of us and I ran the 42" walk behind with handle bar controls. Best summer ever, outdoors, exercise, and money !

I am too old to cut my own now a days ...

Every so often I order something from eBay that comes from China. Often it takes a few weeks, but it's always something cheap that I'm not in a rush for anyway. Typically they leave China and in a couple of weeks the item clears customs and ends up in the hands of the USPS.
On April 30 I placed such an order and it actually shipped the next day and quickly cleared China customs and cleared US Customs on May 5! Yay! I was really surprised!
However...delivery was "unsuccessful" yesterday and today. Why? Customer was not at home. Well, yeah. I'm on a short vacation.
Seriously? It's less than $4. They've spent more than that on gas to drive it to the house twice!
The seller said nothing about that moronic restriction in their ad, and it aggravates me to have to deal with such nonsense.
Hoping against hope, I emailed the courier with my name and tracking number, telling them to just leave it by the door, and if that was not possible, to just return it to the sender. Their reply? Their warehouse is not set up to allow me to pick it up, it has to be delivered. DOH!
Obviously English is not their first language, but man, how bad is their translator that they got from "leave it by my door" to "I want to come to wherever your warehouse is and pick it up."
Anyway, that's my rant.
Peace...out.

It's possible that you may owe tariffs on delivery. I've hears others having USPS collect tariffs on foreign orders.

I order quite a bit from Amazon/Ebay. I try to avoid the overseas vendors but will make a purchase if I am not in a hurry or the price is too good to pass.

USPS, FedX, an UPS are not shy about leaving chit on my porch unannounced.

At least my mailman has the decency to knock on the door when he has a package for me.
