Root Raptor v0.1 Release super fast and stable

As soon as I downloaded this rom I haven't been able to go back to velocity. I can't download any file it. Just says "this file is not supported on this phone". I have tried everything! This rom is so difficult and I want velocity back. Why can't I download any file?!
its the stock browser that has the limitation. Use another browser like Opera Mini. I know that one downloads just about any file type.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out what it is about Raptor that blakewiftehally is finding so difficult. Really, it's not any different flashing and using Raptor than it is any of the other ROMS. To go back to Velocity, you just need to go back to your Recovery, wipe out the sdcard and repartition it, copy the Velocity ROM back to the card and reflash.

Blake, this is your second post stating you are having a problem with Raptor. I would really suggest using the Chat Live option on the forum site to connect with the guys in the ally forum and get some live help. Either with resolving what issues you are having with Raptor or with installing Velocity. I'm sorry to see you struggle, but honestly, there isn't anything in Raptor that's intended to make it difficult or impossible to switch ROMS. Maybe the guys on irc can figure out where the trouble lies.

The rom is amazing, I love the status bar icons. I never used set cpu or a new kernel on Velocity so I can't compare them. But I do have my phone set to 729 MHZ and running with no errors.

Sidenote: new member, odst0016. I think the moderators of this site really hate when people flame multiple useless messages.

Do you mean from the browser or from the market, because when I first downloaded this it gave me an error with backup manager and wouldn't let meinstall it. I figured it wasbecause the model was changed to Raptor Ally, instead of just Ally. I changed it back to "Ally" by editing a text file in rootexplorer but forgot how I did it, and after thateverything worked fine, even though a friend told me this wouldn't make a difference, something did.

I'm sorry you are having such problems. That is very odd indeed. If you have any interest in getting it to work, I would suggest getting on IRC and talking it over with the guys there. Dots and Killertonez in particular should be able to help you with anything really odd. Probably most of the others as well.

The biggest hurdle to installing any ROM is having a clean base to begin with. I would recommend using Amon Ra Recovery over Clockwork. Start out by totally and properly partitioning your SDCard (0 Swap, 512MB Ext partition and convert the ext from 2 to 3 and then 3 to 4). Download a fresh copy of Raptor to make sure it isn't corrupted then copy the ROM to the SDCard. Clear Factory/Data, Cache, and Dalvik Cache. Flash the ROM and then reboot the phone. You should be able to get through set up from there.

Good luck!

How do you convert the ext from 2 to 3 and then 3 to 4? Is this something that is easily done through Amon Ra?

Yes in Amon Ra, you select Partition sdcard, then Partition SD. Set swap to 0, ext to 512 and the rest of the card will be FAT (32 I think). Once that completes, on the same menu you choose SD:ext2 to ext3 which converts the ext portion to ext3. Then select SD:ext3 to ext4 to convert the newly converted ext3 portion to ext4. That's it!

Where do I download amon ra recovery at? Cause I can't find it on the marketplace. And yeah its hopefully just the hole sd card partition thing

When is Raptor v0.2 coming out? I am having withdrawals from not changing my rom and messing with is. I have been changing my themes like daily waiting for a new rom to come out.

I'm only a tester, not a dev, so I can't say for certain. I believe its development is on track and it shouldn't be much longer. I think you will find enough tweaks and improvements to make it worth the wait.

This ROM is really snappy. I was Velocity .3 for awhile and was having ongoing kernel issues. I used this ROM when Velocity quit working the last time, and have been very pleased with it.

I've tinkered with the Turbo IV and OC, and the new kernel, and have ultimately had the best performance, with the base ROM. It performs very well all around. have had no FC issues. Only had kernel issues when running overclocked (my phone just seems to like 600mhz best).

Looks really nice with Launcher Pro Plus and associated widgets and custom icons. Great job, really I can't wait to see version .2. I have noticed a few Beta testers around, and can't will likely upgrade if it improves on what is already in place.

It does. I can't reveal anything at the moment, but there are some nice features coming.

Very nice ROM. Well thought into and works flawlessly.

Great work killer
