Rave/clubbing

With my new job I got, I have much more weekend free time, as such I've been going out to a lot of raves and clubs in the New England area. I've also gotten into this new hobby called gloving. Anyone else into EDM music and such?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jB4MqN_5Eo youtube link is just a video of me gloving one night while at home.

Noit me . . I find it all too bloody silly for words. Not really music as I know music, but to each his own, the old lady said, as she kissed a cow.

I like EDM. Trance, Drum 'n Bass, House, stuff like that. However, since I'm in the midwest, and not a major urban city, there is really no such thing as "raves" or "clubbing". Also, the number of people that really like it are few and far between.

So its usually more of something I like to listen to on my own.

Used to be "on it" from 91 up to about 07. "Rave" where I come from meant invading some private property with a sound system & a bunch of people find out about it either through friend or contact, & expect to get stopped by the police who are defending local peoples will of not allowing it, either they just monitor it or clear it by force.

Tbh they never really played my kinda music (house trance progressive & techno) instead d&b acid techno or psy trance so went clubbing in London.

The "free" party scene (rave) is a contradiction as you need to know the right people & it can be very cliquey. With clubs you just have to get past the doorman.

I like to listen to some house and techno, but I don't do clubs or raves. Not my scene.

Not really sure what all the hype is about in reference to music like dubstep either.

I get you, to me dubstep is just a progression of breaks, electro & more bass, things we already have. There was "grime" too that was just an offshoot of actual genres. Music stores like HMV just call it "Urban" .

It saddens me to see how Skrillex gets a bad name from some, I'm sure he's a sound chap & probably doesn't know how annoying we find hipsters (here in UK). Imo he's being judged on the hipster look, more than the what he does.

To the OP, I do like the gloving in your vid, much better than sticking which was quite clumsy having to hold on to the things all night, & looks much better with lights at the finger tips :) . Flouro was quite rare in the UK (save for the trance boom late 90's), not needed at raves due to mud or in London the DJ's are too underground to even smile  :D .
