Razr Maxx

Download screen test, set it to black and go into a dark room.. If yours doesn't show it I'll be surprised. And if it doesn't, there goes peoples theory of "it's just normal for the manufacturing process of these screens".

Why? most people don't hide in dark rooms to use their phones. I guess if you look hard enough you can find fault with any phone. You should see them on the Nexus forum, they are whining about everything too, and that was to be the perfect phone everybody was waiting for.

I said this in the original thread discussing this issue and I'll say it again here. How often are you going to be sitting in a dark room looking at a solid black screen? Not very often. This is a NON-ISSUE.

That database screenshots says XT912, which is the normal Droid Razr (and the exact same ID is shown for the other Razrs); the Chinese ones were 917, 928 and.... another number different from 912. If that's not an error in their system, that would most likely mean there's no different hardware in that other than maybe a bigger battery.

Or.... it's a Razr coming with ICS out of the box.

According to Engadget the phone won't be 13mp as there's some EXIF data that hints to a similar 8 megapixel shooter.

Droid RAZR MAXX appears in Verizon Wireless inventory, details remain mysterious - Engadget

PS. What the hell has blotches got to do with this topic? Let's get back on thread folks!

12/15?

Im hearing good thing about the Razr Maxx. Really good things but not at liberty to share.

If what Im hearing pans out, we will all be happy and impressed.

Now I dunno what to do. Return my Razr and wait for the Maxx to drop to use my upgrade.

Or, keep the Razr and then sell it when its time for the Maxx to drop.

Decisions decisions.

Do you have a timeframe in mind? If we are talking 2 months, we all got Bioniced. If it is 6-10 months, oh well.

Im hearing April at the earliest but guess time will tell.

Is it usual practise for handsets to appear in Verizon's system if a phone isn't going to be released for another 4 months? April is a good while away! Shouldn't it have appeared in Verizon's system closer to launch? Seems a bit unusual to me.

I know you said you've heard good things but not at liberty to say, is it possible for you to give us some hints? For example is it a US-only phone or will it be released in Europe too? Does it come with an 8mp or 13mp camera? How much better is it than the Droid Razr?

I was going to purchase the European version Droid Razr next month, now i'm not sure if i should wait for the Maxx or not?

Razr Maxx, Razr, Gnex...they're all the same. People are going to whine no matter how good each phone is. I'm a newbie and so far all I have found on this forum is whining. It's refreshing when a positive post comes up, which doesn't seem to be to often. Most post seem to be about taking phones back and the "next" phone that may be released "some day".

I hear you man. But that is the way the tech world is. There is always something better right around the corner.

For me, I wanted the GNex something fierce I gotta tell you. But, I got the Razr and am so glad that I did.

Razr Maxx is another story. If what I am hearing pans out, will be switching to it. But you know what they say, good things come to those who wait.

We will probably not know much more until VZW is confident the motherload of Razr buyers are past their return window. The extended return window for Christmas probably means little info until after mid January. Just my guess.

Honestly? Keep your Razr for a year and by this time next year you will get devices much better than Razr Maxx.

The people I trust for info are hearing Q2 2012 for the Maxx. If you are always waiting for the next best thing, you are always waiting for the next best thing. Get what you want now and trade up when you can.

I dont think there's any reason to wait because as soon as the MAXX gets released something else will emerge.

This was the rationale over in Gnex land for the longest time as to why the GNex was delayed--make sure early Razr adotpers got stuck with it cuz VZW loves Droid branding (as opposed to VZW just loves to sell CONTRACTS). It didn't make much sense then either. Turns out it was a combination of the battery life and a pissing contest with Google; the Razr return concern wasn't an issue at all.

Seriously, how many people care enough to bother returning a phone that doesn't suck?

I'm still trying to find credible Razr sales numbers. I'd suspect the vast bulk are sold either VZW direct or Best Buy/Radio Shack/Staples, with Costco or Bjs being a fraction. And frankly, the unwashed masses who buy a phone at that type of retailer probably are the could care less crowd (bargain shoppers on this forum excluded, of course)

Wondering if the pixel to area ratio is a problem with 720p devices on small displays. People are reporting issues with the Nexus touch response and I noticed the Rezound was mainly unplayable with game emulators.

If this is correct, I am wondering if I would be happy with a higher res display. Maybe devs need more time to get with the curve.
