RC33 For G1 On The Way

woot,

decided to turn on my wifi cus i'm on 2g, and randomly got the update! I was contemplating of saying dont update because i was in the middle of a text :D

but i decided to go on through. Voice is cool, and I guess you can save MMS, but us ppl without the 3g service cant send MMS :[

anybody know if there is a fix for MMS on non 3g service?

Guys, I think it's sincerely honestly randomly sent to individuals, not regions. At least one person has gotten it in Chicago, and I still don't have it. Just like with all the other updates, we won't be able to find a pattern by people posting their time and location. It's interesting, but isn't going to give you a clue.

Correct it is random.

New user here. I've had my G1 for less than a week. I tried to download the RC33 update from phandroid and I get an error that says "Cannot Download. The content being downloaded is not supported on the phone."

I tried to download it to my computer and send the file to my phone's sd card, but the computer tells me to insert a drive into disk e:

Does anyone have any clue why I cannot download this update?

Thanks in advance from the n00b.

NM. I had to mount the SD card via the USB drop down.

Installed and running RC33

I got the update this morning - at about 11am EST.... and my MSN has been acting weird ever since. Most times, it won't get online at all. MSN messenger was working fine before the update.. Why is this happening?

Got RC33 on 2/10/09 at 1015pm in Washington DC ..

It was a longer wait than i thought for the blinking Android to finish on reboot ...
but all seem to go well...

There appear to be issues with mapping applications not making connections to the network .. not sure if this due to Google maps new version with Latitude ... after a couple of power reboots the system seems to be working good with both cell-tower and gps location ....

My phone bricked big time after the update. I had to hard reset it. Lost all my apps, not my google data of course. Worst yet, astro did NOT backup like expected. Meaning I went and got astro first from the market and it didn't want to restore all my apps.

Very annoying.

damn Dave that sucks.... so were all the apps not in the folder on the sdcard ? so if I deleted astro... and then reloaded it ... then you think it would not restore any of the apps that I had in the backup folder ?

Got it last night, everything seems to have worked fine, except that it totally messed up the system clock. After resetting time and date, no further bother. I'm in Switzerland, and running an unlocked US G1 on Orange network.

I don't know.

I probably should write to the Astro dev and confirm this.

But yes in my backup folder it was empty. Though a few hours before the update I had done a backup and actually saw the program icons in the folder. No idea how "actually works".

It all seems to be working RC33 and my phone now, and I don't have the persistent low memory error I was having.

I wish Astro was there for me.

One interesting note...the Market, My Downloads actually kept a history for me so I knew what I had and could easily go retrieve them.

One annoying thing that many apps/devs/service doesn't provide as compared to the Sidekick, backend backups. On the sidekick if I bought Pacman, it would save pacman in my own "store" and bring it back down automatically on a hard reset/new device. In many cases data and settings were backed up too.

It has been pretty annoying to re-add all my data for apps or reset all my settings. Things like Power Manager, Weather locations, etc. It adds up. I still haven't redone all the custom ringer associations I had setup for alerts and people.

Well i feel lucky then that my update went without much trouble other than Cell-Location didnt seem to work until I did a couple of power-off cycles ...

Let us know what ASTRO says ... I am not ready to delete Astro ... and then reinstall and see if my backups are still there .... Maybe I should create my own directory and copy them to there ... in addition I always have my full weekly backup of the entire sdcard on my laptop ..

I was told VIA T MO that it was being sent out pr IMEI# not regions.

I did a handheld exchange yesterday and the update had came already for my old phone so I get to wait again. :(

That's a great news... i was wondering if i in India would be able to get an update automatically :)..

All i now wonder is if i would be able to access the market from India, we don't seem to happen a market for India yet.. and wonder if i can access the US market from India. Well i'll know in a few days (still waiting to lay my hands on the phone)
