RC9 Update recieved 3am this morning in the UK

Just manually initiated the update using the device info option and it's currently downloading. Unfortunately battery quite low so going to charge first before I continue.

Wonder what exciting options I will end up with :p can't handle the excitment

Damn sarcasm was never my strongest point

Miss M make sure it's the UK page you go to and not the US so google.co.uk/latitude then it will except your number.

Well I installed the update and yes it's well nothing really.

More options for the market but obviously we can't see paid applications at the moment but that doesn't bother me as I sstill won't be buying any until an Android handset comes out that does allow installation to the SD. Also wow we can mark spam comments, great so Google had a problem with comments and want us to do their job for them great update that.

MMS images can now be saved ...whoopdedoo there was an application in the market that let us do that so gained absolutely zero.

Gmail. Still only able to attach photo's and nothing else ffs

Latitude. The only thing I am really dissapointed about really, I'm sure this has been a cockup somewhere in the update as no I haven't got it either and even going through the browser to the latitude site doesn't work, it just says launch now and it opens the maps up but no latitude.

I was never expecting the earth and as I said the thing that has bugged me is Latitude the rest is all a bit meh

Latitude is absolutely pointless for me.. I have no contacts that have the android handset, so it's pure pointlessness.. and I can't turn it off either, just hide it, so no one can see my handset.. probably drains the battery..

there is an option to turn the thing off, but when I choose that option, a screen saying "Saving your settings", and this screen stays on for as long as you want to, until you hit the back button.. and if you enter the settings again, you will find that it has only hidden your device, while the application is still running..

only thing I want, and haven't got is the voice search..

When you press the big "Launch Now" button, you are directed to Maps, and if you hit the Menu button, you can click Join Latitude, and accept the terms and conditions, and then you should be able to use it..

You can check Maps first, and see if the "Join Latitude" isn't already there..

pressing the big button just opens the maps app... no latitude joy...

i can't believe that i have latitude working on my spare nokia but not my G1

what does your "Build number" under About phone say? (mine says: kila_eu-user 1.1 TMI-RC9 128600)

I just got the following reply from the t-mobile helpdesk

"As you're unable to get the Latitude option on your updated version of G1, I'd request you to contact Google directly at www.google.co.uk. Once you contact them, your query will be resolved."

Haven't found a good email yet ... but if anyone wants to try that instead of t-mobile ....

Whats the exact url cos when I got to .co.uk it still says invalid number
I went to google.co.uk/mobile/default/latitude.html

I tried going to latitude through Firefox...

It sent me a message to my phone with the link...

When I checked the link on my phone it said... "Coming Soon" ....

I still haven't updated my phone...so that could be the reason why...

Just thought I'd throw that out there though...

when i go to latitude site via my phone and press the button it just loads up maps but still no sign of latitude...

Did you read that Daily Mail article at the bottom of the page?

That made me laugh.....

Seen it before. BBC was just as bloody bad and I commented on their article with regards to it on the website. Basically told them to use it and find out what it can do before writing about it as it was obvious the reporter just didn't have a clues as to how it worked and the fact that you can just bloody switch it off and voila no tracking

my girlfriend got the update 2 days ago at like 3 am on her phone, but im yet to get mine. how nice
literally no visible difference besides sim tool kit. icons names on desktop fading out instead of being ...'ted out and where a button would normally say search, i.e. android market or searchbar on homepage its now a magnifying glass. but yea really nothing to get excited over. markets out of beta but no paid apps there so who cares
