RC9 Update recieved 3am this morning in the UK

just a guess but mabe if the phones left for a while it triggers update as i got mine early in the morning aswell as the op. or they might be just sending updates at night whilst the networks not busy.
 
Well I hope is woth waiting for as from what I have been reading most of my issue will be fixed first the trash problem will be sorted second the battery setting have been tweeked and last some stated that the update had new functions such aas voice dailing now

I'm afraid we aren't worthy of voice dialling or voice searching, the voice recognition engine is no match for our quaint little British accents so they didn't include it.
 
O well just being able to empty my trash in my pop 3 account would b good. Also if we can now save to sd card the apps that's a huge thing I am always deleting apps to save phone space.

Is that what you want? Or you saying RC9 actually allows you to save to SD Card?

When you say left for a while....what exactly do you mean?

As in...not in active use?
 
From what I have been told the rc9 update should allow you to save apps to sd card manybe someone with the update like mzblack can confirm that

I doubt it...

That would mean some people would never get the update....unless they moved to an area that they got access to 3G or wi-fi

U would need a 3g at the very least as I don't understand how they could send that amount of data other wise?
 
I saw the screenshot, but there it said EU.. is there anybody that got the rc9 to the uk version? (mine is: kila_uk-user 1.0 TC5-RC8 116470 ota-rel-keys,release-keys)
 
Am l missing something here ??? usa already had update ,germany getting update and we are still in the testing phase!!! Are uk g1's more sophistacated or is it they've got to take more out of the update ,so the uk don't get as many features as the rest of the world!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:
can't have this feature because we speak english,can't have this feature because we live in uk blah blah blah
l love the g1 it's a fantastic phone ...what l hate is the lack of support for the uk market we're supposed to be one of the top countries in the world not a 3rd world g1 country!!!!!

Well...the UK are pretty much ALWAYS behind when it comes to ANYTHING....

I've never actually understood why that is.....but meh....just gotta live with it....

But it is true though....we shouldn't have to be so far behind....

And I doubt anyone will be offended by it... (at least...I'm not)
 
no latitude, no voice search, nothing much at all.

this update we're waiting for is supposed to pop up like the last one and ask if we want to update now or wait, right..?

is there anything new on "manual download" to this update? anybody got an idea?

I've never got an update with this phone so I don't have a clue on how the updates work....

Well as an American I would be more than happy to trade the UK it's being 6 months behind the US tech wise for your educational and medical systems.....
 
Exactly, i for one am thankful for our NHS, and we get stuff pretty early really compared to others.

I spent some time in norway, where you get like 15 channels for the price we pay for 300. They pay double for everything and still get half as much, i refused to buy a thing there lol :D

i have to disagree on the nhs thing i have friends that have been waiting 4 years for treatment and if you donk live in the right area u donlt get the drugs u need. second you end paying for it if you work anyway and still have to fork out to go to the dentis and treatment my mother spend 120 a month on stuff that should be free but is only free in wales. the only way treatment is free in the uk is if you dont work and in the right area. i think we all should have the right to opt out nhs and reduce ni tax you pay in your wages becuase most people i know now pay for thier own insurance and apart from the odd visit to ANE they paid for evertying. anyway rant over has nothing 2 do with this post lol apart from i am typing this on my g1 how cool is that lol
 
ps dont get me started on ed 32,000 it cost me to go uni. hows that free and in terms of standards we are one of the lowest in the eu for maths
