RC9 Update recieved 3am this morning in the UK

My take on this, the Magic will be released and it will have some cupcakes on there. At the end of the day its Vodafone exclusive in the EU and I can see T-Mobile pressuring google to ensure the G1 software is kept just as good.

What I am wondering though is...will both the G1 and the Magic share the same market place? Or will google setup a marketplace for each handset?

The same I would assume....

I don't see much point in having a different market for each phone...

---EDIT---

SK beat me to it...

Now that the URL is out there, everyone in the UK running RC8 (OTA, not rooted) can update manually - download the update here

Same process as usual to install...
1) Download the file
2) Rename update.zip
3) Copy to SD card
4) Turn off phone, hold down home and press power
5) In recovery mode, Alt+L to see the text, and Alt+S to apply the update
6) Wait till it's done, reboot, and enjoy

If it tells you the file was not found...
(Windows) Open a folder view -> Options -> Folder Options
Turn OFF 'hide extensions for known file types', or simply rename the file to update instead of update.zip.

If you're still having issues format your SD card to FAT32 and try again.

The usual warnings
as with flashing anything, you want to make sure you DO NOT interrupt updates while they're running. Don't attempt the update with 5% battery life remaining, etc. I am not responsible if you brick your phone.

i have to disagree on the nhs thing i have friends that have been waiting 4 years for treatment and if you donk live in the right area u donlt get the drugs u need. second you end paying for it if you work anyway and still have to fork out to go to the dentis and treatment my mother spend 120 a month on stuff that should be free but is only free in wales. the only way treatment is free in the uk is if you dont work and in the right area. i think we all should have the right to opt out nhs and reduce ni tax you pay in your wages becuase most people i know now pay for thier own insurance and apart from the odd visit to ANE they paid for evertying. anyway rant over has nothing 2 do with this post lol apart from i am typing this on my g1 how cool is that lol

Well although your friend is waiting there are SO many more advantages to your system here doctors are paid more for treating you less... the less they do the more then earn the UK and most Socialized medical systems are the exact opposite... Another advantage is simply that although you pay for it in your taxes the average American pays FAR more for simple insurance and if you don't have the money your SOL period... they'll just dump you on the street somewhere LITERALLY two different hospitals near are being sued for just putting uninsured patients in a cab and dropping them off in another city on the side of the road... not to mention that more than 10% of our country simply can't afford it so they are always sick... hence the reason people from Europe live 3 -5 years longer than us Americans on average... As far as our JOKE of an educational system well you won't truly understand how poor it is until you live here and realize that half the country can't even tell you how many states there are... I'm going to stop here otherwise i'll go on with my bitterness and anger in watching my country fall apart from the inside out...

hey all, hate to rub it in but just got rc9 ota. can someone else with rc9 tell me what the purpose of the new sim tools app is??

Looks like it's a complete rollout... I got update at 6am this morning...

Little disappointed that I still can't access paid Apps :(

I prefer to just wait for my phone to update itself....

Id of been the same if I hadnt had my update...
Everyone seems too unsure of what is actually going on right now...

PS. extra thing I noticed today, when any applications have an update the phone is notifying me :)

Thanks for the link and details. Much appreciated, worked fine on my droid.

IT seems a SIM Application Toolkit support was added to the SDK and it allows Carriers to have carrier dependant content on the handset.

Im off to college soon, will try and take some pictures when im back later.

Got my RC9 update OTA this morning. I dont know what it did to my phone but it certainly messed with the time settings. I use my G1 as an alarm to get me up for work. This morning my alarm didnt go off and when I finally woke up (an hour late) the time on my G1 was set to 14:32!!!

So, I was very pleased to finally receive RC9.

My boss was not pleased that I was late for work!

This has probably already been asked but does anyone know where I can find a definitive change log so I can find out what is different to my phone.

My clock was also messed up, it even set some date for september 2008, but, my phone grabed the time of the network. So all was good.

You got the Sim Toolkit?

No, I haven't got the Sim Toolkit. Where did you find that? Its not in my list of apps. Tbh I havent noticed anything different yet but I havent really delved very deep

I got RC9 this morning, doesnt seem to have changed much, but seems stable so far.

Has the official changelog been released yet?

I just got the update to this morning.

No paid apps yet.

And I can't seem to find Latitude. My Maps app is updated to v3.0 which is the one that's supposed to include it. Anyone else who knows how to get it?
