Delete her from the phone, remove her as a friend on Twitter/facebook, do a Gmail/FB contact sync. Clear the contact cache, re-add her on FB, then twitter, sync both, then add her to your phonebook/google contacts, sync again.

Totally speculating here, I'm kinda stumped :/

Rite.... here we go, this is gonna take some explaining,

i done all of wot you guys suggested (DELETE HER from everything) sync and start again, but... still no luck
However... (this is where it gets a little complicated), before i try to link her fb and twitter to her contact details she comes up in my phone book as a separate fb contact as its not bin linked yet, if i click on wot would be her fb or twitter pic it gives the option of -VIEW, FB, TWITTER, if i click FB or twitter it will let me see and view all the details in her fb or twitter,status pics bio etc, HOWEVER if i click the VIEW tab thats when it FC, everytime without fail, this is wot it tells me when it FC
the application people (process com.android.htccontacts) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.

so it looks to be something to do with the phonebook, im so stumped.....

i hope that all makes sense

Did you restore your contacts from a TB Backup or did you pull them from the gmail account?

i pulled them of a backup on my sd card which iv had on there for few months now, !!! not all of my contcts ever seem to back up to google which is why i have them on sd card

You might lose all your contacts, but if you have them backed up, that should'nt be an issue.

it kept my contacts but still no joy,im really baffled by this, not sure if makes much difference but after couple of FC a few time it then seems to do a mini reboot and asks me for my password to unlock my phone

ok so i think i sussed it out, thanks guys for your time and help, i come across this whilst hunting for a solution, ill put up wot worked for me jus in case anyone else runs into this little problem, altho it states for the desire it worked for me

There seem to be a lot of people experiencing the problem when browsing "people" on their HTC DESIRE, you get the message

the application People (process com.android.htc contacts) has stopped unexpectedly.

This happens mostly when trying to view someones contact info and means you cant view it because it continues to crash over and over! VERY ANNOYING!

SOLUTION:

This might happen with just a select few contacts or lots of them. I am pretty sure it is linked with FACEBOOK.

On the desire, (it is a great phone) it auto synchs your contacts from facebook into your phone.

When you are in the "people" app you can chose if you want to see all your contacts (gmail contact list, facebook, + ones you have added in manually etc.. etc..)

the program only crashes when there is an error with a contact from facebook. (or so I have found)

You have to go to:

settings - accounts and sync

turn off auto sync and then remove your facebook account from the "manage accounts"

Go back into the "people" application and go to "online directories" (the little globe) then go to facebook. re-enter your details.

hopefully after resetting it all. the problem should go away.

the annoying thing is, you have to go back through and link all your contacts to their facebook accounts again.
