Root RE: rooting

Which is better, to root then do a backup. Or does rooting cause you to lose all your data

There really isn't a good way to backup before rooting. You can use mybackup pro to backup some things. After you root, you can do a nandroid backup and backup apps/settings with titanium backup. Rooting will not cause you to lose data if you just use unrevoked. Some people say you should wipe first. You probably would be fine if you didn't, but if you're the paranoid type, you can use mybackup pro, first.

OK, I downloaded unevoked3 and it says make sure HTC sync is not installed. I never personally downloaded this. Is this something that came with the phone. If so how would I uninstall it?

It's the application you would install on your computer. If you never installed that don't worry about it. I will say, though, that some people end up having to install it, then uninstall it (rather than never having it installed to begin with).

Plugged in cable with phone off. Nothing is happening. Does phone have to be on?

Uh, what are you trying to do at this point? I'm going to go out on a limb and say, yes, you probably need the phone on for whatever you're doing. The only thing you can do to the phone when it's off is charge it.

THe phone was set to the hard drive. Now I have a found new hardware wizard message. Is this correct and if so do I search for updates?

The computer searched for ABD but said could not install becasue it could not find. D o I need this or can I click finish on the wizard.

Yeah, that was a major step to not know while trying to root. Its like cut the blue wire but before you do that cut the red wire. Is there anyway to get in touch with someone who can in detail get me thru this step by step. Nevermind I'll just contact the developers.
Thanx anyway

did you get it?
