So I have a very slight issue which Ive been trying to ignore for the past 2 weeks. If I look at my phone in direct sunlight with the screen off, or IF im using the phone at night with the backlight dimmed, I can see dozens of dust particles underneath the screen on the bottom right hand corner. ( at night it looks like dead pixels)

Last night when using the phone I said to myself. I'm going to unroot my phone and get it replaced. So I went to the Verizon store today. No one there would acknowledge or see the problem, and they refused to replace the phone. I insisted that they replace it.

I called Verizon and the rep on the phone told me she could do nothing because the store said there's nothing wrong with my phone.

Ive been with verizon since 1998!. Ive only ever replaced a couple phones because they were completely broken and wouldnt power on or whatever.

I'm so pissed off at them, and I swear I will never go into another contract with them now.

Hate to tell you but these phones are not sealed. They was right there is nothing wrong with your phone and you will run in to the same answer that you got from verizon. Its no different if your case was scratched from normal use. Even if you got a new phone dust can still find a way in. You can get an otterbox case that seals all holes in the phone. but with openings anything can get in to the phone. I bet you didnt tell them you rooted your phone. So your not being honest like them saying they dont see the problem.

Point taken with that the dust can get back into it.

As to rooting my phone. who gives a crap. I unrooted it and it was stock so its irrelevant.

You dont get it you rooted your phone and if you dont care then why you unroot before taking it back to the store. Why didnt you tell them hey I rooted my phone and I dont care? Your mad at the store for not saying there was dust behind the screen but at the same time you kept from them that you rooted your phone.

Don't be childish with a comment of rooting put the dust behind the screen. I see why you didnt get another phone as I bet you acted the same way to them. Got all hot headed.

There is no need for bashing. But I must inform you, you didn't try very hard to get your phone replaced. I had that issue and had mine replaced with no problem. If one person tells you it won't be replaced, hang up and call again. Someone will do it. You can also just say the phone turns off all the time or something to that extent. Be like "My phone has been factory reset numerous times. I took it to a Verizon store and they reset it as well. It just keeps rebooting every few hours. I would like a new phone."

I have never had trouble getting anything replaced with a little pushing and shoving.

Your right. I could try harder. I was very polite at the store though. (untill the very end when I saw it wasn't going anywhere and I told the rep he needs his eyes checked out) I don't feel like driving yet to another store to have to wait in line to explain my issue.

Jedi... I don't really care about your root scenario.. Leave me alone on the topic go monitor someone else's post. Verizon is wrong here . I'm the customer. When my customers have a problem I make sure they are happy. Verizon is failing here with a very long time customer.

Heres another scenario for you Jedi. How bout if I just bought a brand new Mustang which requires to run premium gasoline. I never run premium I run regular. 1 month later my paint is chipping off the entire car or maybe just the rear quarter panel.
Does this mean that I should go to the dealer and say. "you know ive been running regular in my car, (means nothing to no-one) any chance you can fix the paint on my quarterpanel" NO! im just gonna talk about my quarterpanel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the dust interfere with the phone in any way? Does the dust hinder you viewing your screen properly? Verizon does not have to replace your phone as there is nothing wrong with your phone. Its operating like it should. Your complaining about something that is cosmetic and its something that cant be prevented. So you want to return a phone every time you get a little dust behind the screen. You can only see it as you said under certain conditions. So it cant be that bad.

Sure they should treat customers good but only when there is a legitimate complaint. Dust isnt a reason as it can be looked as normal wear and tear of a device. Now if the dust was there when you first got it then you could ask for another one. So no verizon isnt treating you bad. THey did what they was suppose to do. You on the other hand want to take advantage of verizon and get another phone when there is nothing wrong with your phone.

Lets see a picture of this dust.

IT looks like crap. Ill take a picture later. it shouldn't be behind the screen ever to begin with. if it gets there over and over with different phones, then its a Lemon., and verizon should deal with HTC on that issue. Not screw their customer.

Maybe mines defective. My droid doesn't have this problem, and I beat the crap out of that thing. This thunderbolt I treat like a baby.

Does your phone have dust behind the glass??

I dont know if my bolt has dust behind it as I never looked for it. I will look and see and get back to ya.

Fine. The first time I saw it I thought it was dead pixels. So at certain times its really annoying looking. I think you would of noticed by now.

There is dust behind my screen as well. It is unacceptable. I will be returning too. Good luck!

Justin

PS my power button is also getting squishy to the point that sometimes it doesn't work. Build quality on this phone sucks... but I do love it none the less. Had it since launch day.

I am not Fing with him as you put it. I am showing him that verizon did nothing wrong.
Sure they did. If it has dust behind the screen replace it. That is not normal wear and tear. Besides, why does it bother you so much that you keep harassing him?

If the phone is NOT sealed (it's not) then particles of dust are to be expected at some point.. Mine has them.. After less than a week.. So did my D1 and my DX.. Is arguing about it necessary? not so much

He didn't feel it was right, he pleaded his case, he lost.. he is going to do what he should.. Talk with his wallet by not re upping his contract next time its up.. Will Big V care.. Maybe, maybe not.. But the point is he did what he thought he needed to do..

On the other hand by posting it here you are opening yourself up to any and all opinions, rather you like them or not.. It is after all a public forum..

Sooo, are we all done bickering?? Hmmmm??? good.. Now back to just how wonderful your phones are.. ;^J

Then why does it bother you so much to keep harassing me then? Like damule6666 said these are not sealed phones so yes dust can get in to them. How do you know its not sealed? look at how many phones are dropped in water. So if water can get in? So can dust and other things. So yes it can be considered normal wear and tear to have dust in your phone. Never seen an ad that said any phone is dust free. Have you?

I work in a powder coating plant and I place a rag over my phone to keep the paint powder from getting in my phone. So I for one realized that small particles could get in to my phone.

I do have to ask him one question. Does he have a screen protector on his phone? If so could the dust be under the protector and not the screen itself. I know I have in the past gotten dust under my protector when installing it.

I have an even better one....My T-Bolt has the "depreseed power button" KNOWN problem. Known it seems to everyioen BUT Verizon. I called...several times...I went intot he store...I went back to the store and saw a manager. I made them note my account that 3 weeks after I got it the button was getting further and fuether depressed into the phione. THEY WON'T REPLACE IT OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE IT AS A PROBLEM. Other than this there is NOTHING wrong with the phone. It is now very difficult to turn on, having to press it several times just right to get it to work. So I am stuck. I have the insurance BUT why should I have to pay $100 to get a new (if I'm lucky a NEW) unit. I bought a BRAND new one that 3 weeks later had an obvious defect. Very annoyed with Verizon now.

I do have one question. I have noticed that my power button is flat with the surface of the phone (whereas it stuck noticeably up before) Is this a recognized issue? And will it continue to worsen? Is THIS an issue that Big V will not give me grief over wanting a new phone?

Thanks for any info.

**oops, guess i don't type fast enough sorry about same question ^^**

I will agree they should replace it as its faulty equipment. I thought I read other members that had their bolts replaced for the recessed power button?

with everyone going into the stores, wouldnt it be easier to just call VZW Customer service and tell them your having power button problems and dust problems.
Even though they still probably wont replace your Tbolt just for dust, so tell them it is having some other problem like overheating or constant reboots. Im not trying to take advantage of VZW but......... we did pay a couple hundred for this. so dont make it a habit :)

ive had several problems with a other Htc devices including this Tbolt and other Moto devices and VZW always took care of me. i never once had to go into a store.

This is Supposed to be a friendly site.

Already had mine replaced for the power button issue and getting ready to call again about the replacement having the same issue. I will continue to call and have them replace my phone as long as the power button continues to have this problem.

Just curious, for anyone in here that has dust under their screen, what does it look like? I wore a brand new pair of shorts yesterday before washing them and I noticed a couple times I pulled my phone out of my pocket it was covered in lint. Then last night I noticed when looking at a white screen there's, what looks like "glitter" in my screen, it's like little speckles that almost glow on the white screen. I cleaned my screen this morning and I couldn't notice it, but I'm wondering if it was that my screen was just dirty or my eyes playing tricks on me after a full day of drinking? Can someone explain what the dust under their screen looks like please? Thanks in advance

rooting doesnt have anything to do with the dust problem, he didnt take the phone in because he rooted and unrooted it!!
