As old as the bionic is I would doubt that they would be recalling it now.

lol. sounds totally bogus, IMO. the only phone I've owned that would need a battery pull to get the ringer working again was a POS Storm.

Could you please elaborate on the Bionics age and why they would be recalling them?

Just saying it is one of the older phones on Verizon's line-up. I have heard of some problems with its radios. But Verizon had ignored it this long and my mother in laws is fine. Dont know why they would recall it for something silly like a ringtone issue when the phone could have way worse issues.

I've googled extensively and can't find anything to suggest that, do you have a source/link?

Just saying it is one of the older phones on Verizon's line-up.

It was released Sept 8 2011 making it a little over eight months old, so not quite sure what you mean. It's not the newest but can go toe to toe with them. The latest official ROM 5.9.902 fixes many of them and 5.9.905 seems to fix most remaining issues with the radio. Also ICS should be out sometime in July/Aug.
