Help Recharging S2 problem

I just got my galaxy s2 three days ago and I'm having a very serious problem with the battery. Not like the usual problem, mine is about charging it while the phone is not off.

I was prompted that my battery is low (about 15%) and I just plug the charger in and leave it to charge. At the lock screen, it stated that the phone is charging and i just left it aside but to my horror, few minutes later when i check on the phone again, I saw the battery has decreased to about 12%! So I unplugged and put it back in yet it kept reducing until my phone shuts down. Then, I realise that only when my battery is flat, it will start charging. I cant afford to wait till my phone dies every time just to get it charge.
I am depending on my phone so much to get most of my things done.

Can somebody please help me?

Try this:

Charge the handset fully while powered off. Once it's reached 100%, disconnect the charger and remove the battery for 5mins. Replace it, switch on and use it normally. Try topping it up overnight - it should be at 100% by the morning. If it's still not charging then we'll need to investigate further, as there might possibly be a hardware fault.

Check that no applications are running - Hold home button and choose task manager. I know having the 'Phone' app running can drain battery whilst charging, not sure about messaging app though. etc etc.
