Help "Recipient Error" message

Just upgraded to the HTC Incredible (love it).

I have encountered one problem I need help with. If I am looking at the contact info of John Doe in my "People" and I select, "Send mail" I am routed to an e-mail compose screen. The "To" field is automatically populated with the following:

"<mailto:doe>, <John <john_doe@gmail.com>>

Then, of course when I try to send, I get a "Recipient Error: The address <mailto:doe> is invalid."

I know nothing about coding so this is all foreign to me. Any help here?

Open your contact and edit his e-mail field to remove the mailto:doe tag so that it's just John_Doe@gmail.com.

It does this for every contact, and none of the e-mail addresses include the mailto tag.

Are you using the stock e-mail client?
