Root recovery backup

Just did a backup through recovery .
now backup is generating
2 files for cache data and system
ext4.tar and a ext4.tar.a
the ext4.tar is empty
the ext4.tar.a seems to contain the backup data.

i have never seen this before

yea, thats how it gets done now. basically the tar.a has your data in it and if you pull it rename it removing the .a you can extract it like normal.

wow, i did a few backups just the other day and there was no .a
seemed weird its doing it today.
so restore will work left as it is?

i must be looking at old backups from the 2nd init apk.
just freaked me out. i thought i borked permissions or something.
thanks for the info

prudy sure the version of cwm in 2nd-init rec does it too, but I cant recall the original version that was in the apk. Only thing that actually got updated in it was the recovery binary. ;)

i must have been using the original 2nd init apk
