Root recovery install without a PC

Is this possible . I want to get my phone off stock and back to a Real ROM... (stock sucks)..... I ran the RUU this morning and just flashed the jbear hboot 1.5. But now the next step is to flash recovery.. I dont have a PC I can use for this procedure. the ones at work are locked down. Is this possible?

When did you start running stock? I am a bit confused, as you are technically a developer nowadays :p

Do you NOT want to install Super User? I believe with SU powers, you can install 4EXT directly from the ROM as it's an apk file.

I ran the RUU because I was having issues. I now want to get my phone back to where it was before I ran the RUU. Im not in front of a PC that I can use. I need Recovery b4 I can flash anything. so I started this thread to see If it was possible to flash recovery without a PC..

Now I know its possible.

The android-info.txt file in your PG86IMG.zip is probably only specified for the evo 3d. Download the 4ext one that I posted and put the txt file from mine into a zip with the twrp recovery.img. Mine is specified for evo 3d and Evo V

Is that the .zip file Brian provided? He said that was 4ext. Which is much better then TWRP in my opinion.

I didnt even see his link.. I should of looked a little closer. But will it work on stock hboot 1.57?

and your instructions are a little unclear to me Brian. I would rather have 4EXT than TWRP. So will that file you posted work?

NM I got it... even a student Dev like myself can still learn everyday..

Yep, hboot doesn't matter for that! Glad you got it!

For what it's worth I've had random reboot issues with certain AOSP roms. I'm on PACman right now and the newer version was giving me problems but I never get them on the older version. Same with Paranoid android, I got random reboots all the time.

Were you having reboots on the stock ROM? It may be that the most recent phone is more sensitive to overclocking.

Maybe you should try running Harmonia for a while. Better than stock but should be more stable than most others.

I was on my ROM . Mobsterz/unSENSEable. and I still got random reboots. I called Virgin.. they are sending out another one. They just back my old replacement 1 week ago.... lol.. they didnt say anything. they are just sending it out. I love their replacement policies

Mine has a few scratches and I could use a fresh battery, maybe 'my phone wont turn on anymore' too! :D

Edit: As assholey as they are and as much as I would like to do that, Abuse of that policy will end up in them changing it, so I'll just wait till I buy a new phone :P

I've posted elsewhere that when I was having all of my problems with the Triumph I actually went through 6 phones in 2 months, at one point I actually had 4 Triumphs sitting on my dresser. :p

I dont feel like Im abusing their policy. If the phone aint working I desserve a replacement. I paid $300 for it in may. the problem is they keep sending me these class c replacements. ...... what a joke.. maybe if I am pushy enough I can get a class A

Yea, given that the Evo 3D/V has been out of production for a while you are probably getting reconditioned phones that caused problems for other people. :(

excactly......... So its their fault. Not the current replacment but the one before didnt even have plastic on it . and it had dings on it. I called them back as I refused to activate that device. They sent out another one. But like I said Ive had several replacements. they are all CLASS C

Hehe, im sure that dont make any A-Class devices this old anymore. All you're gonna get is dusty old shelf phones and refurbs
