refurbished..?

I am getting my replacement Evo today from fedex (and Asurion)
The first thing im going to do is check the refurb status on it.
And the second thing will be to check the screen and see if i can see a difference between my friends Nocatech screen (see if my new one is an Epson and check quality)

My question is, if the screen, phone, system etc. seems to be in good shape and quality, should i keep it if its a refurb?

I was thinking of just selling the refurb and grabbing a new one.
Or would it not be worth my time.
The little extra money isnt an issue.

BTW: Fedex just pulled up!!!!
Brb :)

Hey, it actually came new in the htc Evo box, sealed with sealed charger and manuals etc!!
Wow. Looks like im just keeping it :)

Oh it's gonna be a refurb. But if it's in good shape I'd keep it. Asurion guarantees their phone replacements for 12 months free of any defects so if it gives you any problems have them replace it.

refurbs are often in much better shape than new ones. this is because they have to bring it up to factory standard before they can resell it as a refurb, and the phone basically gets a quality control check all by itself, rather than as a huge batch, where usually the phones don't get as much individual attention. I'd keep it.

The phone came with 2.1 on it, so i checked the refurb status.
Its clean and brand new and shiny and beautiful.
Novatech screen, just like my old one too.

Wow, that's awesome! I guess the current shortage worked out to your advantage. Congrats!

Thanks!! :D
I could be wrong, but i heard there were only 350,000 produced..?

How do you check the refurb status of a phone?

I press *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer and it brings up a screen with all kinds of goodies. That only works with 2.1 though i think. I tried it on a 2.2 and it doesnt work anymore :(

Ordered two replacements last week from assurion.

One came in the original package, one was in a small black package no battery or memory card.

Both units were brand new

Dial ##786# (do not hit call) and there is a reconditioned status there.

Congrats Surfologist on your new phone. :D

Thanks!
And also thanks for the tip. I tried that and it worked.
My new Evo is on 2.1 and im debating on whether or not to update to froyo.
I like a few things on it but might stick with 2.1 for a bit longer. We'll see.

Maybe you will get my dads. his was in perfect condition when he turned it back in for a DroidX. 3 People in line tried to buy it from him.
