Regarding New System Update... 4/8/2014

so i bought this phone yesterday and it already said please update. i didnt think anything of it and did it. Am I screwed now? I have 7 days to return it and swap it for another

Why is everyone trying to rid themselves of this update? or block it for that matter, it can be rooted with no issue.. What's so bad about the update no one wants to download it?

how can I reroot my lg f6 from metro pcs .
I lost the rooted after I updated it. I tried to reroot it but a was not able to do it. After I tried it says that "root fail". What shoul I do?

Because there's no easy way to root after updating to 12b. A couple of known options are still a huge hassle.

1. Flashable rooted 12b, must install custom recovery first in 10i, which from what I've read can also brick if a future update overwrites the recovery partition by accident.

2. Use OTA root keeper app, still a hassle, and not sure if it keeps certain components from 10i into 12b, since it "restores the rooted" section, which kinda defeats the purpose of an update.

3. Kingo root (at least latest v1.2.2) is not consistently working for people.

If you want to help solve this, post a new thread with clear instructions that is confirmed by others, and maintain the OP so it stays concise & clear as new info is discovered. Every phone's rooting forum needs a thread like it.

I need to know to do it
I have no idea how to do it
After the updated it does not allow me to root it again.

Because everyone used Pessy's CWM that doesn't have an "Install Update" option leaving it in a boot to recovery loop.

Took me one set of instructions, and less than 10 minutes and I had my phone rooted.

It's only as hard as you make it to be.

I installed Framaroot.apk latest edition.
Opened it and Clicked on Gimli.
Then used and installed http://goo.gl/chwkVs (Disregarded Errors)
Then installed latest version of KingoRoot 1.2.2.1915
Put phone into LG Software mode and clicked Root on Kingo.
2 minutes later phone was rooted.
Hello, hope you all dont mind me intruding. I am new to android and I just got an LG Optimusf6, from metro. I got it about 3 days ago with MS50012B installed so I am not sure if I can revert back to the old OS. can you elaborate on the process you used to root your phone? thank you.

Ive been looking everywhere online but it seems if I want to root my phone I would have to go one firmware down from where I am at and I am not sure if that is possible, considering technically I have never owned my phone on anything but 12b.
again thank you all.

got this solved thanks to GameTheory

Please tell how. I'm in the same situation you were, just bought phone from metroPCS and it came with MS50012b loaded.

Thanks.

I would appreciate help finding the 12b update file to delete it. I Have rooted and unlocked my F6 and an using ES File Explorer with Root explorer checked and hidden files visible. I have looked in the Root folder and the Cache folder but can't find the update file. I have the Metro version.

Thank you
Jim
