Root RegawMOD & Hotspot

I rooted my EVO LTE using RegawMOD. When I rooted by EVO 4g I was able to turn on the hotspot and connect to my laptop right away. I turn on the hotspot now and the laptop doesn't see the phone.
Does anyone know how to get it to work?

To use the native hotspot, you'll need to use a ROM that already has an unlocked version built in. If you didn't load a custom ROM, then you'll need a 3rd party hotspot app such as wireless tether or foxfi (personally I've always used wireless tether when on a stock ROM), I'm not familiar with Foxfi at all.

Rooting via RegawMOD only gives you superuser access to the phone's files, rooting alone doesn't unlock the hotspot feature.

The link I posted above allows for you to use the sprint hotspot app. Its really easy all you have to do is add one line of code to the build.prop located in your system folder

This was helpful, thanks

I'm not trying to hijack your thread here, but I'm having an issue with this as well. My build.prop doesn't have ro.tether.denied=false. I'm on viperROM 1.2 and Sprint Hotspot doesn't work.

It's not supposed to have it :D

Add it in there anywhere and it will prevent the error message

I'm really a newbie. I thought tethering was with the USB cable. I talking wireless. Isn't that what hotspot is?

I tried this and turned on Sprint Hotspot. At first it appeared to work, but then I see an error, "Data Call Failure" followed by "Error Code 67. Unable to establish wireless data connection."

Reboot and wipe dalvik cache and cache.

It gave me the error the first time I tried it but has been error free since.

I've tried this also with the same result of error code 67. 2 reboots and 6 dalvik/cache wipes later, i was still getting the error. Not a big deal for me since wireless tether is currently working correctly, but even on the mikmik some people seemed to have issues while others didn't. I'm not sure what the differences are or if they're related to entries in that build.prop, but a functional "Sprint Hotspot" would be great. Wireless Tether only gives me issues when playing onling with the PS3, but the built-in hotspot worked great with everything on the OG Evo.
