Rejecting incoming calls and "SIM from unknown source" popup fix

Motumbo, did you figure out the problem? You can change the voicemail number in the dialer settings, but you probably already did that.

A direct dial widget, with the voicemail number in it would the closest thing to a one-button speed-dial.

It depends on the number you have to dial for VM and if you are roaming or not. If you are not roaming, then phone will always try to dial +1###, where ### stands for your local sim card number, if you are roaming you could setup a different number in the VM but it won't work if you have to dial a *.

To make clarify with one local sim the only way to get VM is dialing *+123 actual voicemail number is just *123, I had to read a lot of forums to figure out about using + before the number, If I don't do it, a message of "Invalid MMI code" appears.

As you see it is a mess, if you tell me your voicemail number maybe I could give you a hand.

gzonecommandonic,

I got the following from here:

World Wide Mobile Phone Settings

try this:

- Select Settings
- Select Wireless and Networks
- Select Mobile Networks
- Select Access point Names
- Press Menu (three vertical dots)
- Press New APN
- Enter the follow settings one for General Data . The other for MMS

Name: AU - Vodafone Web
APN: vfinternet.au

MMS Proxy:
MMS Port:
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0

If that doesn't work, do a search for APN on the playstore. There are several apps that can set APNs for you.

A rugged, cross-carrier, global phone. Awsome. Some day they'll all be that way, I hope.

Motumbo, do you set different APNs for the different SIM cards you use?

I don't have the option to change MMS Protocol...

Just a note about extending battery life...

Most of us don't need a high speed (LTE or HSPA) connection all the time. We don't even need a medium speed data connection (EVDO or EDGE) all the time. For most things (SMS/MMS, email, etc) good old 1xRTT or GPRS is more than sufficient.

Using Doctoror's menu you can turn these radios off when not needed. From the menu select "CDMA Test Menu" , then "Network Mode", and then 1x only (for USA VZW customers) or GSM only for those on GSM networks.

Yes, it will cripple your data speeds, but it will also significantly increase battery life. If you need fast data, change the settings - LTE/CDMA for USA VZW, LTE/GSM/UMTS for our GSM friends.

Give it a try and post back what you find out.

I have had to join this forum just to say thank yiu to Doctoror you are officially my Sunday hero. Having wanted a tough phone and had to make do with one that made calls and sent text and nothing else ever I researched and paid lots of money to buy the Commando, shipped it to the UK and was gutted it did not receive calls. I know nothing about smart phones and am not great with computers but you managed to make my phone work. THANK YOU so much I can't express how glad I am to have found this forum and your simple to use app. Now I wait with baited breath for a simple solution to remve the daft "SIM card unknown" message as I don't even understand what is being suggestefd in the complicated replies on this thread. But thank you again at least I can now speak to people rather than just having to call everyone x :p

Just after finally getting this phone working on the vodafone network via the Doctoror's awesome instruction, it was run over in the street....

Still receives calls and messages, but I cannot communicate with the device as the screen is shattered. The tough phone not so tough. Any links for a cheaper one?

That's a little above and beyond the design specs I believe...

There are some links on Youtube about replacing the screen. I'm on my work computer so no Youtube for me, but I have seen one before.

I'm going to go over to my brother's house tomorrow and get his SIM and try it again. Looks like you can get into the APN settings from that menu too which is important for setting up other carrier's data settings.

Any luck with the AT&T SIM?

Sorry, ment to report back. Works just like an AT&T phone. No LTE though even though AT&T's LTE is here. It's good to have options. The Commando I like, VZW - not so much. I was looking at AIO wireless, and it's close to time to renegotiate the land lease with AT&T (they have a tower on my farm) so maybe it's time for free service?

Cool. That's an awesome option to have. Did the phone give you the "not a VZW SIM" notification?

Does AT&T have good coverage throughout your area? We get a decent VZW signal, but folks who come to visit us who have Sprint or AT&T sometimes have to climb a hill behind the house to get a signal. It's the main reason I stick with VZW even though I don't always care for their policies.

Yes, AT&T has excellent coverage. They lease about three acres from us and have a 350' cell tower, in a field that we have strangely dubbed the "Tower Field". It's about a 1/4 mile from my house. It's a forty year lease and the terms come up for negotiation every ten years, which is soon.

I've been looking for one of these for awhile. It's nice to know that when I wind up getting deployed that I will be able to still use my phone. My c771 has been run over by a Humvee and an Abrams and survived so I look forward to the durability and functionality of the c881. Thanks for all your hard work! Keep it up!

Doctoror,

Can you create a menu like this that gives access to which radios are on, i.e. I want to be able to select CDMA only to save battery. There are apps available on the store but those go through layers to get to them. You seem to know how to cut through the bullshit so how about it?

Unfortunately I don't know how to do it. Actually I never heard it was possible to disable / enable particular radios.
Only thing I know you can select a network mode (GSM / CDMA / LTE) in the settings.

In the original file you sent out to fix the call reject issue. You could go to the CDMA test menu and pick which radio you wanted to test, i.e. 1xRTT. The idea is that I don't need a high speed internet connection all the time, so I like to be able to turn them off when not needed. If you could repost the original instructions to fix the call reject issue I will just try to install the original menu

If that's what you meant - it is possible to make the settings change. But applying can be done after reboot using third-party app.

Or you can use that menu, of course.
Replace /system/app IMSTestMenu apk and odex with this one
And install the launcher app as normal app to launch it.

Dear Doctoror,

I have two casio commando 2. I got exited for outdoors and purchased two. When I recieved them wi fi was working. I can confirm that. I took the first phone and flashed it in cdma workshop for local carrier settings. After that wi fi and bluetooth is not working. It is nothing new I have done, I have flashed several phone earlier and nothing happens to wi fi and bluetooth. I tried various app fix and rooting, ROM change to korean model and nothing fixed it. I even upgraded the firmware using verizon upgrade tool still nothing. Someone suggested that if I restore the nv item from a working wi fi phone that may solve the proble. I need the nv item. These can be downloaded from phone using cdme workshop/ dfs etc. Can you please help me fix wi fi bluetooth issue of my commando 2?
