We received word from Sprint that the inclusion of Gingerbread was an unfortunate mistake, and that it plans to upgrade the EVO 4G as soon as it can.

Yup just saw that.

But something is definetly brewing with Sprint. First off even though it was a mistake I am sure they are getting ready for it and someone was just trigger happy and put it up early.

Second, I follow Sprint on Twitter and the last 2 days they have been tweeting wayyyy more then usual. And pushing the Nexus S very hard with their tweets.

Something big is coming. Evo 3D realease date I am sure is any time now.

In KC there are several Nexus S 4G themed things Sprint has going on right now too. They are teamed up with one of the radio stations giving one away along with some cash and there is the $20,000 Nexus S 4G scavenger hunt here on 6/4 (It is really a Samsung event, but Google, Sprint and YMCA are also sponsers), plus I've been seeing the cat commercial a ton on TV.

Not sure that any of that points to anything involving the 3D, but I personally think it will be soon since that has been a little bit of chatter the last few days and the 3D being very visable during the race.

I personally feel like that was a "calculated" mistake, if it was a mistake at all.
 
Oh well that seems to just Jun 4th will not be a evo 3d weekend.

Well since the shipped ruu's just got leaked I think its safe to assume that we are closer to release than we think. I am still going with deltatko and my theory that the release date will be announced during Oprah's final episode this Wednesday with the release following within two weeks after that. My initial guess was june 17th for the record even though my heart was telling me june 3rd.

Like themuffinman, I'm at least hoping for something around Wed. with Oprah's show. I spoke with 2 sprint stores today regarding preorders, and one told me they thought it'd release 2nd weekend of June, the other even mentioned the Oprah event and Nascar coverage, and said they thought it'd be out first or second week.

At this point, even if it's going to be a bit longer than that, I just want to know. So much bad information out there, and my guess is that neither of those stores actually "knew" anything, they're just simply guessing like the rest of us.
 
My connect at a local sprint store said he will find out the release date within the next week. He also told me they had over 50 pre orders already and most likely but not definately the beginning of june.

I checked with my friend at Sprint Corporate, but he said didn't know the date. He knew about the EVO last year, but not sure why this release day is a secret.
 
According to a sprint store in CA, its releasing next month, she assured me of it, and sounded very confident, if they release it in July, they will miss the boar, because everyone will releasing some high end phone in June, July is way too late, so to me it makes no sense, and August would be even worse...
 
Due to the fact June 3 is just over a week away and Sprint hasn't even officially announced launch info for the 3D, that coupled with the fact there hasn't even been any official clearance by the FCC yet either, I'm going to guess middle to end of June. That's working on the assumption they only release devices on a Friday. They would need at least 2 weeks advance notice before they officially release the device I'd imagine, they wouldn't announce it on a Wednesday and start selling it that same Friday.

It's frustrating there is no info on this, I'm stuck with my TP2 and am holding out for the 3D, so I hope it comes out soon but to be honest I just don't see it coming anytime before the middle to end of June at the EARLIEST. If it was all ready to roll, you'd think they'd just announce it already.

First saw the Evo "sign up for updates" page in I believe it was March (maybe April) so by that reckoning I would expect a July or August release.

I hope I am dreadfully wrong...

I'm guessing they threw out "this summer" to cover all their bases. They wanted to avoid the similar disappointment experienced by thunderbolt/charge etc customers when those dates were significantly delayed. By stating this summer it gave them lots of room in case things did not go well. However at this point I think they are on schedule because we're seeing lots of buzz on preorders, perceived dates, tradeins etc. All we are missing is a date. Hopefully a June release is in order...
 
this is like dejavu from 2010 on the EVO. I recall a lot of ppl saying Sprint was telling them late july or Aug.. IPHONE 4 release date is one of the factors on when the EVO comes out, etc. Instinct came out June, Pre came out in June, Evo came out in June.. All signs with Best Buy, Sprint, and RS doing pre order.. i've have faith that EVO 3D will keep that same trend too. FCC filing on the EVO was May 7th. I know that i saw FCC filings come out the same day the a phone was released to.
 
I know it's been beat to death but my money is still on middle to late June. I think marketing wise it just makes more sense. You can tie into the movie angle (Transformers 3d) and take advantage of July 4th...not saying they couldn't do that anyways, but you might as well just do a blitz and try to get as much coverage as possible. Of course I thought the same thing about the Evo.
 
I hope not; folks over at at&t seemed very unhappy with this phone. Getting kind of annoy with sprint and their phone releases. They just don't think thin and light.

Sprint is doing what they planned on doing, which is tease us until we all can't take it anymore. I am willing to bet that this phone will infact be released in June. Anything passed that and they may as well not release it at all. There are too many signs, there was a E3D(shooter) rom leak a week or two ago then there was the leak of the final RUU just yesterday. There is no way that you will have a final RUU and the phone not be released for another month or two, also how can there be software issues at this point if the RUU is final? Then there are of course all the pre-order stuff thats been happening and the radioshack leak that has the pricing. Also I am quite positive that this phone has already gone through the fcc process, it just hasn't been made public yet. Things are way to quiet than what they need to be so something big is coming soon. And when I say soon I am saying tomorrow on Oprah's last episode is when it will be announced. Of course I am just speculating but if I was a gambling man(which I am) I would be betting that the released date will be announced tomorrow.

Good work. The only issue I have is that the Pre was technically released on Friday at Premiere parties that were invite only (and let me just say it was a great thing to attend, can anyone say free booze for 4 hrs?) and then open to the general public on Sat (though I do know of several Sprint Stores in KC that were also selling it on Friday even though they weren't supposed to)

Since we have not heard much from Sprint I am guessing this will be a late June release.
