If they are pushing back the pre order date to accommodate for simultaneous wifi only and 3g/4g launch, I would be ok with that

Well judging from this quote and other information we have heard from other sources, I would say we will be able to pre-order them tomorrow. I just find it odd we have not heard anything from BB or VZW or Moto yet
So do you guys think that preorders for the WiFi-only model will begin on the 20th as well?
As of right now, no. We haven't seen anything on our end to suggest there is a wifi coming out soon.
That is a direct contradiction to Verizon's own policy, so I highly doubt Best Buy would have any luck enforcing that.Did you also see this part of that post, "You should also know that you won’t be able to re-activate the data package on this device whenever you like at no cost. An activation charge will be enforced each time you re-activate."
Sucks for those that are wanting to be able to do that.
Best Buy doesn't charge the activation. Verizon will. And there won't be any way around it. The reason they charge it is because they have to issue you a new phone each time you activate. I guess the FCC charges them and in turn they charge you. That is a direct contradiction to Verizon's own policy, so I highly doubt Best Buy would have any luck enforcing that.
I actually asked my Verizon rep about that very thing last week, and was told that the activation only applies at purchase of the device. If I were to discontinue use of the data plan for any period of time (no matter how long), another activation fee would not be charged.

I can confirm that the pre-order date is pushed back as well. To Sunday. This is due to an agreement with Motorola. Not Best Buy's call. It will still be released on the 24th.
Is the 24th for the WiFi-only model as well??![]()

I hope this is true. I'm weighing the pros and cons of wifi-only vs 3g/4g, and "re-activation" fees would be a big disincentive. I can see myself using the 3g on occassion when traveling, but would hate to pay a minimum of $55 every time i turn it on.
Have you thought about just using your phone as a wireless modem when traveling? I mean that is what I do with my current laptop and it works just fine. My plan is to do the WiFi only and use my phone as a modem.

When I had a sprint galaxy tab, i was unable to tether with my rooted droid. There was a work around but it involved rooting the tab and changing some code (ad hoc to infrastructure? Cant remember, but i wasnt comfortable with the process). I dont think i'll want to mess with the xoom!
