Release date

OK - I'm either good - or not - for numerous resons - I like to buy my phones @ BB. My upgrade date is September 1. Through a number of more aggravating phone calls to retention - they said that I can go 14 days early. Apparently - the 14 days early is ONLY through SPRINT.

The system still says September 1. They said that, if I call them - I can upgrade - but - not through Best Buy. My hope - if it comes out in August - although SPRINT (for what they know) is denying any knowledge of a release dat - is to try to preorder it @ BB - and see if I can schedule my appointment for September 1. I specifically told them that if I KNEW that I could get an EPIC 4G on September 1 - even if it releases in August - I wouldn't have an issue - but I don't want to have to go through what those who didn't get EVO's on day 1 are going through.
 
Anyone else get the feeling the release date will be announced tomorrow? If the rumors of the Epic being released by August 20th are true then we should see a release date any day now.
 
Release date and and price please...If it's not the same prices as the other Galaxy phones...some people will be upset...199 for the other 3 carriers....I just hope Sprint will let us upgrade early.

There's a real buzz going right now about the release date. It would make sense for them to announce it tomorrow (IMHO). I've been searching to see if anything new comes up about the phone and the 20th is coming from all sorts of legitimate sites.

My fingers are crossed that we get some kind of a bone tomorrow. A date, some pics, SOMETHING:D

So I'm guessing late August or maybe even September. Bummer. They have a product announcement signup site which I'm sure they'll synchronize with Sprint's announcements regarding the release:

Well, they ignored both my direct and public messages, and they changed the air date for the Epic TV show on the website.

I'm wondering if either they accidentally leaked the date and then tried to cover up their mistake, or if they are still working on the phone and had the 20th in mind but are now reconsidering.
 
I have a feeling, that we will be getting notification on the release date by this Friday. If the release date is truly going to be August 20th that is.

I went back in my email, and checked and saw I got my EVO notification on Friday May 14th, 3 weeks before the June 4th release of the EVO.

So, Friday will it be revealed?
 
I do not want to cause a fuss, just passing along information. I called my local Radio Shack a week or so ago and the lady gave me no informations except she said she would go ahead and make an unofficial pre-order list and would call me if she heard anything. Today she called me and said that unofficially she talked with their Sprint rep and he said the phone would be available on or before Aug. 20th.

I am not confirming a release date or do I have anything to gain from causing a stir, but just passing along the information that was passed along to me. Could be total BS or it could be scripture. I am taking back my EVO tomorrow and reseting my upgrade so I can get the Epic. I will wait until whenever. If you have not seen the Super Amoled screen, your missing out. Also the 5mp camera on the Samsung Galaxy phones absolutely destroys the 8mp camera on the EVO. If you want to see what they are all about, go check out the Samsung Vibrant at your local TMobile store and check them out. That phone does not even have a flash and the pics were so crisp. The Samsung UI was so smooth and the hummingbird was as quick as you would expect.

I personally want the slide out keyboard for NES emulators lol, I plan on using swype for messaging, but the screen and camera are second to none. I personally think Samsung may be trying to right their wrongs and actually support their new line of devices. JMHO, take it for what it is :)
 
I called up my local Sprint store and got a pretty helpful reply. First there was the usual speculation that it's either August 20th or 28th. But then he said they're having a meeting this week (Thursday or Friday), so we should have a release date announced by then.
 
Historically speaking, has Wirefly been the cheapest place to get a phone?

It was for the Evo, but it's unfortunate that bing's cashback, which was $50 at Wirefly, is ending on the 30th.
 
a couple of different people on the androidcentral forum have said that best buy will not carry the epic 4g...this will really piss me off if its the case
 
Took my EVO back today - nothing wrong with the phone per se - just know I will prefer the slide out keyboard - I'm also hoping that the Super AMOLED screen will be easier on battery life.

Really looking forward to the announcement!

Captivate owner here. Super AMOLED is theoretically easier on the battery. Unfortunately I keep unlocking the screen just to take a look at it one more time, so my battery doesn't last worth crap. Luckily I am blessed with Micro USB chargers every place I live/drive/work so the phone spends as much time plugged in as it does unplugged. If you look at my JuicePlotter graphs, the slope of the line draining the battery is the same as that charging it back up.
