Release Date?

FWIW, the Motorola branded "Droid Light" app, in the Market, just had an update pushed out for, "Motorola Atrix compatibility".

Now that I'm not working from home, I find myself using my phone (Moto Defy) to catch up on my "browsing" when I get home and relaxing on the sofa. I could see people pulling the trigger on the lap-dock, myself included, especially if they were in the market for a "pad" device, for just the same reasons. However given that I just bought a 17" iCore3 for $379, I'm finding it harder to justify a move to the Atrix...I dig the "core device" concept though.

Nice! I bet you have to be using a Motorola phone to see those apps? I haven't found a motorola branded app on the market with my nex1. Nice scoop though; hopefully it's another pointer towards coming very soon!
 
Of the phones announced it's the only one to make an appearance on the AT&T site and they have only put things on their site in the past no more than a few weeks before release.

The Atrix is the only one on their landing page. The others are not immediately shown without clicking a bunch of links. The bottom right corner of the main wireless page usually means within a month from past experience. That would make sense because Moto said available in a few weeks during their announcement and AT&T said in the coming weeks.

I'm not sure...this is the "Droid Light" flashlight app. I've only had an original Droid, for 3 weeks when it first came out, and now the Defy since Nov.
 
Yes, it has cleared. It was also the only new '4G' AT&T phone at CES that actually powered on and used in demonstrations. That means it should be pretty close to final trim.

Well the HTC Inspire is the Desire HD so that has been done for a while. The Samsung Infuse is a larger, slimmer Galaxy S so that is almost done from the start as well.
 
I don't know exactly how much faith to put in business customer care, but when I called and asked them about this phone the agent said that what she saw for a release date was March 1st. Hopefully it comes in January like we want, but that isn't the best sign...

I sure hope not, but that is what both business customer care and tele-sales departments are showing as the release date unfortunately; I called sales to see if they might have something different, but they said March 1st as well. I guess our only hope is that it's a placeholder date and it comes earlier; but that does seems to be grasping at straws. Stupid CES got me all pumped for an upgrade and now I have to wait a couple months...

Well if that's the case and the inspire comes first then I get that then

It is ridiculous to base anything off the sales staff. They have no clue what they are talking about. It could be released before or after that. Realistically it is just a random placeholder date. I would say it is best to assume the date as unknown until AT&T releases an official PR announcement. Also, AT&T will get it before Bell. Most likely, that is how the contract between Motorola and AT&T is set up.

That's what I said and since bell is stating January for AT&T I'm gonna go with them

I agree and yeah, this is all rumor and speculation; that's the fun in the forums, lol.

Every 'hands-on' of the Inspire and Infuse acknowledged that the software was not finalized and the reporters were not allowed to power on the phone. This leads me to believe that the AT&T bloatware has yet to be finalized on the phone.
The Moto was fully functional.

Take what the customer reps tell you with a grain of salt. One rep will say march 1st, one will say end of January and one will say the Phone is already out but it runs winmo7. From past experience reps are usually always wrong. They only know what their immediate supervisors tell them.

Have to agree I always know more than them. I am actually scouring the best buy logs when I can because they always let it out early
 
I decided to make an account here as I am planning on being a proud Atrix 4G owner once it is released. I did a bit of digging on google, and found this interesting link to a site that sells cell phone cases. Hoping for a January release, I was a bit disappointed, but this site has a silicone Atrix 4G case that will start shipping on February 26th. Seems like a random date for it to come in stock if it isn't released on that date!
