Release of the thunderbolt!

So my buddy is on Verizon and I went with him to the local Verizon store to check out the new HTC Thunderbolt. I'm not going to waste time with a long story. Things that caught my eye were the new Sense UI. I hope that the Evo will incoprorate that into an update. I also like the new kick stand with the Dolby Surround speaker behind it, that was nice. The udated Snapdragon 1.2Ghz processer is also a treat.

But a couple of other things I noticed. First, Verizons version of 4g (LTE). It's fast as it should be. But there is no way to shut it off. Unless you are on WIFI the 4g will automatically turn on. Only if there isnt a signal will it switch to 3g. Unless you had an extended battery I would expect to see dramatic battery drain with that.
2nd is the 5 megapixel camera.
And last is the smaller 1400mha battery.

No I'm not trying to sound like a nit picker but it seems like they took a couple of steps backwards.

It seems once again apples to apples, pound for pound, nothing beats the EVO!!

If that's what your looking for....ill admit that the speeds of the lte are amazing if they hold regardless of deviceve saturation.... but there are some things I love about the evolution missing.
^Faster, better GPU, more RAM.

I have to agree that the Thunderbolt is a little better than the Evo, but that's to be expected. There's always something better coming up in the not too distant future, that's called progress. :)

8MP vs 5MP camera doesn't translate to a better image. Software, firmware, hardware and what ever 'ware' weighs more than resolution for a better image. A bigger resolution only means you can print a bigger picture with less loss in image quality. :)

If the battery compartment is designed like the evo, then it shouldn't be a big problem to get a bigger battery with an ugly battery cover. :)

One last note, I'd probably be holding on to my evo for a little bit longer. Right now, whatever demands I have on my phone, it does. So far so good for me, If there's a phone that will last all day on a single charge, while playing pocket legends then I might consider replacing my phone... LOL!

Don't get me wrong I like the Thunderbolt a lot. I was just expecting more I guess. Like I mentioned above I'm a picky F'r. With an overclock Kernel, the Evo is faster. So the only way it really beats the Evo (lution) ,lol, is with the bigger ram and newer sense. I guess I'm just used to having total control on this phone, it would just bug to see the 4g toggling off and on all day. No biggie though. The plus side is at least it has 4g where the only other 4g phone on Verizon is what, the Iphone (did I say something wrong)

The Thunderbolt's camera is 8 megapixel and its CPU is clocked t 1ghz, (it is capable of 1.2 ghz is probably what you read)

sorry for the blurry pic thought you guys would get a kick out of this others have it also. I must say the phone is fast fast fast. Its an EVO on steroids. Click to enlarge pic
