[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

Confirmed 1-year Contract price of $319.99 through my local VZW Corporate store tonight.

I'm new to the whole one year contract thing. What is the advantage to going with a one year contract? You're still only limited to a NE2 every two years so you get no instant rebate correct?

Is the only advantage aside from not being locked in for a year that I can upgrade again in ten months and not have to pay full retail?

Yes. To my knowledge.

What are the odds of there being a mad rush that will cause stores to sell out quickly? Just wondering if I need to camp out at the Verizon store Thursday morning.

If you call a store and "set up an appointment" to buy the TB then yours is reserved.

Okay, so someone tell me this...

Why is VZW not releasing 1 year pricing on the phone? I just got off the phone with them, and they verified that the new 2 year contract pricing is $249.99, but even after putting me on hold for a few minutes...could not find any information on the 1 year pricing.

Now, they gave me a strong indication that a 1 year contract would be available but they just didn't "know" what the pricing would be until tomorrow. LOL...I don't buy that this is a "game time" decision :D

I'm probably going to stick with my wirefly order (and the 2 year contract)...but I was just curious cause there has been nothing official on the 1 year pricing.

Anyone know if BB does one year contracts?

That, and with technology moving so fast, waiting two years can feel like a century.

I also believe verizon is doing away with NE2 once you get a new contract.

The benefit to me would be not only would you be free to buy a new phone after a year (say if there is a dual-core HTC Android phone coming out next year at around this time), but you would also be free to resell the phone to others who want to upgrade but are still stuck in their own 2-year agreement.

For example, you could always sell the Thunderbolt to someone who decided they didn't want to wait any longer and went ahead and locked into a 2-year contract for a Droid X or Incredible. Since the non-contract price would be much more than what you paid for it, you could pretty much sell it back to someone and pretty much recoup your cost. Then that money can go towards your next phone, and so on.

Benefit would be: You are staying on top of technology without it costing you a whole lot.

I called a corp Verizon store here in the Philly/NJ area to try to gauge how many they were getting but she told me that the drop shipment should arrive around 2-3PM EST.

I then asked about pricing. She said that she had just finished up a conference call this morning and that they were told this phone will be $249 on a two year, instant rebate applied. The One year price will be $329 also with the instant rebate applied.

Although she give me and exact number of units arriving tomorrow she told me to call back and she will give me a broad description of the shipment.

Thank you for the explanation. NE2 is only redeemable with a 2 year contract right?

They do not. It has been confirmed several times on these boards, but I also confirmed it by going into 2 BBs myself.

Seems they have it printed on the price cards that 1-yr pricing "may be available." I was told the reasoning behind this is to inform customers that if they want a 1-yr contract, that they could get one through VZ, just not BB.

I have been bad already in the past eleven months:

1. M11X laptop
2. gTablet
3. iPod 4 64gb (wife still does not know about this one yet- but my sons do and are blackmailing me...)

Not sure how to pull this off..... You folks may be sending my wife thank-you letters, since if she kills me, no more rushmore posts! :) :(

The unlimited 4G is like a beautiful siren calling my ship to the jagged rocks.

That's funny! :D Will you still need it having the T-Bolt? Give it to her as a gift.

I'm lucky I'm not married I would be dead by now. This year alone I've been like you

-"52 inch LED TV
-"50 3d Plasma TV
-Gtab
-Iphone4 (I don't know why I bought this but I did I think it might be getting returned soon)
-New HP Laptop and now as of tomorrow a Thunderbolt

How do you like that M11x Netbook I was considering getting it , looks pretty solid

It's amazing what people will pay for year old phones in nice condition on eBay. I love taking my "phone fund money" that I invested into a 1 year contract with a DInc, selling it 10 months later when I'm contract free, for MORE than what I paid for it (including tax). Now I take that same pile of money and do it all over again with the TBolt. And 10 months from now, all over again with what ever the latest & greatest phone is. My phones are kinda "free" after my initial purchase of 1 :)

M11X rocks hard, but I use it about 70% less since getting the gTablet.

I just called my corp store in Columbus OH. The guy I talked to said that the 1 year contract info was not available until tomorrow. He did say that it should be $319.99 based on the fact that every other phone on a 1 year contract is $70 more expensive.

I guess we'll wait and see. I'm going to the store @ 8:45am tomorrow as I have cancelled my pre-order at Wirefly in the hopes that I can get a 1 year contract. He could not comment on how many they had received but said that if I showed up at 9am when the store opened, They would have plenty.

I'm feeling better now...I have been jonesing for a dual-core device all along but it's just not in the cards with this upgrade. I'm sure the T-Bolt will satisfy for the first year of a contract...but maybe not the second year ;)

The other advantage is if your phone breaks after the one year warranty is up, you can buy a new one without having to pay retail by doing a new contract. I have never bought their insurance plans, and have never had a problem (I'm not clumsy). If you pay an extra $6 dollars a month for insurance, after one year you have paid for the difference in phone price between the one year and two year contracts, but are stuck with that phone for another year (and are still paying extra every month for the insurance).

Thank you for the explanation. NE2 is only redeemable with a 2 year contract right?

If I recall correctly, NE2 also applied to 1-year contracts, but the discount was only half as much. I could be mistaken though. I always had 2-tear contracts when I had Verizon. And like other users have said, they are phasing out the NE2 deal anyways so unless you have one more NE2 to redeem, it won't matter.

Thinking I could get my line upgrade pushed up from March 25th, to tomorrow, I called *611. Too bad I am not the account owner...seems my parents are...and they are on a plane right now....they better get home in time. How long does *611 work till? 24/7?

Think 4G- It's whats for dinner :) Still wonder how VZW will try to "kill" off 4G unlimited folks....

1. Phones will electocute folks at our contract end points
2. 4G unlimited will end when you buy another phone
3. 4G unlimited will end after the TB contract ends

There are many ways to purge their system of the wild and free unlimited folks. :(;):)
