[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

Did anyone else have a fear about this phone not living up to the long awaited hype... I really thought I was gonna buy the phone and be disapointed especially in the 4G service area of the phone MAN this phone went above and beyond what I thought it was going to be . It's just as fast as I hoped , the Screen is what I thought it would be, but the touch works better then I would have imagined , the camera is AMAZING , and the 4G service BLOWS my mind after using Tmobile and Sprints 4G I have not even seen the 3G icon pop up it's always in 4G and the 4G is way faster then I thought it would be

battery life ?

I'm sitting at 16hrs Up time and 4 hrs Awake time (been on WiFi about 70% of the time and 4G the other 30%)

Recorded about 4minutes of video, dozen pictures, bunch of speed and quadrant tests , some you tube, email, texting and maybe 15minutes of phone calls. And I'm sitting at 40% life left. I dont' think that's bad at all for the batteries first full charge . I was asleep about 6hrs of that time .

But I think this will easily be a 10-12 hr of moderate/heavy use . I'm very impressed with the battery

I'll echo this. I think the battery needs a bit of conditioning and Android needs a bit of time to collect battery stats and learn it, but I think it will settle out to 10 hours or so on a charge for moderate/heavy use. I'm happy with that.

Also keep in mind, every Android rev seems to bring some improvements in battery life in my experience. I'm hoping Gingerbread pushes further improvements in the battery dept.

Cool. I wonder if the 4G service will extend as far north of Denver as Frederick. I have to hang out there all day tomorrow with my new Tbolt. Maybe I'll remember to post back on it on Sunday.....

Yeah man let me know , I'm at 58th and I25 and it's very strong , it works perfect downtown denver. That's all I've been so far , I'll be in the SW suburbs for a bit this weekend . I'll see if it works out there. There coverage map looks like it does

about the same thing i'm seeing. it's too early to be sure, but battery life seems to be on par with what my incredible was getting with the slim extended battery...given the same usage pattern. wifi whenever possible is also a battery saver.

agree with your earlier comments about being impressed by the phone. it's a bigger better version of the already good incredible. i have to admit i'll have to get used to carrying around a bigger phone, but the screen is worth it. that's was one of the main things i wished my incredible had, a bigger screen.

...and now that i'm in a good 4g area (my house is in an "extended" 4g area) i echo your comments about how blazing fast 4g is. amazing to get cable internet speed performance on a phone.

back to the battery issue, it will be interesting watching feedback of the naysayers and brand loyalist knocking this aspect of the phone. there's really nothing else they have to pick on! :)

The build quality is amazing as well the phone feels extrmely solid . I always was disapointed in the cheapness of the incredible how it would have little creaks and such. This phone just feels very well made. I'm very very happy with my purchuse

according to vzw 4g extended coverage..."Access the 4G LTE network within the Extended Coverage Area; certain conditions may cause your service to connect to 3G in this Area."

basically there are zones where you won't get full 4g speed/coverage due to terrain, interference, or some other issue vzw has identified. 4g may still show on the phone though. in my case i was not getting good 4g speeds in the extended area. at work i get the full glory of normal 4g coverage. :)

They think they will have root today , then they have to get s-off .

:D I know. I was just pointing out that "awhile" is not usually a very long time with the Android Devs.

Now if one of the manufacturers says awhile or soon...get comfy...you'll be waiting for a long time :D

I'm sure we'll have custom ROMs for this phone in a couple of weeks.

I don't understand. Why not just dial *228 WITHOUT the sim inside? I thought the phone still worked without the sim just on 3G only?

I need to get mine, like this weekend, our local store is almost out of them.

Gotta call CSR first...and get my upgrade moved up.

Curious question: My sister's line is up for an upgrade....and I was planning on giving her my eris...I know you can "switch upgrade" to another line thing on the website...but is it really that simple?

How much bigger is it than the Fascinate?

Do you have to bump charge it? Hows the gps?

Im tempted but worried about battery and other stuff. Been burned twice now with early bird purchases :-(
