From what I understand about the Droid branding, whenever a phone is called a "droid" they have to pay Lucus Films for the name as they hold the copyright to the word droid. So it is reserved only for certain devices.
 
That doesn't mean the Thunderbolt wont hold that name. Anyone remember the Incredible at launch? It didn't have Droid no where to be found on the packaging for almost a month after launch. I got mine on launch day and the store is the only place they showed the Droid logo and that was on employee handed out shirts the day before. The Thunderbolt could still get the branding... they have another two weeks to iron it out... "sarcasm".

The Incredible was known as the Droid Incredible weeks before the launch. Check out all the news sites that wrote about it and reviewed it before the launch date...

We still are weeks out from a launch and your point is... just sayin. My box that the Incredible came in had no Droid script in site
 
I really don't think they are going to add the Droid name.. i'm just saying it could still happen. If the iPhone doesn't sell as well as they want it to, they could throw the Droid name on the Thunderbolt to pull in some more sales. Thats why they put it on the Incredible... to increase sales.

Ya, when they launched the official page on Verizon's site. We already have the Thunderbolt Verizon page, but no Droid name mentioned. Plus the Droid Bionic is coming out soon, so maybe that will be the newest Droid phone...
 
We always mark up prices at our BB. So if your paying ful retail. Get it at VZ. And to other BB employees like myself. The screen shot showed an employee price of $404.25 :) Awesome lmao

I just need to confirm that employees can use their discount on launch day. I don't want to go up there then be told i can't use my discount yet. I WILL be so pissed lol

I went ahead and preordered, and what I was told SOP is, is that all other preorders will be filled before mine. Once that is done, and assuming they still have some, I can get my phone before the remaining number is sold to the public.

I pre ordered mine as well. So will they call you to let you know when you can pick it up or do you just go up there?
 
My Best Buy rep said everything he had pointed to 2/14/11 in Kingsport TN. He said they should arrive by Saturday 2/12/11 and to call Sunday to 100%. He said all his documentation stated 2/14/11 launch.
