[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

So today I went to my local verizon premium retailer to apply for a job and asked the guy who was working if he had any info on the thunderbolt, he tells me that verizon is releasing it Friday and he should have some in Friday but more realistically Monday or Tuesday of next week. This comes from small town Harlan, IA.

Give it up with the guesses :) I went into VZW today to check the Xoom out more (a lot more). As per a regional manager there at the time and our company rep- THEY KNOW NOTHING.

That said, even in VZW sales circles, the TB is becoming a joke- just like BMX reported on the dev side.

On second thought, the threads would be boring without the guess... Guess away! :)

I agree, I think the Mod posted a link above to the Seidio website.

Figures. I kind of thought that when I saw the video opening. So which did you buy and how much? I travel often enough and will need a spare.

I bought the one I listed.

I have 3 for my Inc. I use the Seidio extended 1750 mAh daily. This I can get through the day with moderate to heavy use. I also have the OEM Extended 2150 mAh. This one I use if I know I am going to be gone for an extend amount of time or in a building with no wifi for a long time. And the OEM standard battery which I rarely use (a few times when on vacation).

Also a tip. I work in a building in which my 3G signal sucks. When your 3G connection is going in and out all the time, this is what I found drained my battery fast. At home and work I switch to wifi (I never turn off) and my battery lasts so much longer it is not even funny.

2mo away. The new delay is the LTE network is too powerful for the current HTC chipset frying the handset and burning the face of the tester who is talking on the phone at the time. This is the last HTC tester that just filed a worker's comp claim with the Obama Healthcare system. Word is we had to invent a super hero to quell this guy's anger he has over the delays in this phone:

We should've started a pool back in Feb to see what date it would come out. I guess everyone's too busy with their final four brackets to care about a thunderbolt pool....

Thanks to the OP for their story, but this still should go in the release thread. All these separate threads on the same topic are annoying.

I totally can vouch on this as well. My wife works in an area where if she left her 3G radio on, her battery drained almost twice as fast as mine. IMO, the 3G radio (and GPS) drain batteries the quickest. Wi-Fi can just be left on with no real worries.

If the 4G radio in the TBolt is about the same battery drain as a 3G radio, I'll be happy.

Ok, my Inc battery just sucks, literally and figuratively. Under Wireless & Networks, what should my setting be for max battery life? I hope the TB battery issues were solved (if there were any to solve that is).

Think it's only possible if HTC was fibbing the whole time on the specs, and it's actually a dual core "scorpion" Qualcomm SoC. Perhaps a change since CES? VERY doubtful, but WAY exciting if it turned out to be the case :)

You shouldn't need to adjust any settings there. Are you familiar with the stock Android "Power Control" widget ? Add it a home screen. It's easy access to turn off network settings such as Wi-Fi, mobile radio, GPS, etc.

Just have the 3G radio always turned off unless you need it while out and about. I use mine very little cause I have Wi-Fi at home & work, and a short commute. Same for GPS; make sure it's off unless you need it at the moment. Those will both boost battery time.

Try to limit the frequency of mail downloads, lower the screen brightness. I'm getting by fine on 25%, adjust the screen time out so it goes black sooner, and turn off wifi and bluetooth when not needed. Also go into the setting and look at what's using your battery. If you have an app that's hogging your battery you can kill it to save the juice.

Don't know if this scales to the Bolt or not - on our Evo Shift, it's just left with GPS, wifi and 3G constantly on. Unlike the Evo, those just don't seem to be big deal-breakers on the battery.

Still expect the big screen to chew power, especially if set bright or auto-brightness.
