Remotely wipe phone

Can any of you suggest an app that will allow you to remotely wipe your phone in the event that it's lost?

I don't really care for all of the bells and whistles (virus protection, etc.) I just want to wipe my phone if I lose it.

Thanks!

I'm thinking of getting an app for that too. Here's the one I'm considering: Lookout Mobile Security

That's the only "security" app that I've heard of. I'm sure it works but I don't want all of the bloat that comes with it.

I just found Android Lost. Seems to be a great app. I'm testing all of the features now.

Looks like only the premium version of Lookout lets you remotely wipe.

This is what I have been using on my past few Droids.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I think I'm going to stick with Android Lost. Seems to be a lightweight app that does everything I need it to. Not many reviews on the app but the reviews it does have are very good.

Google should realize that this functionality needs to be a part of AOSP.

Lookout is the best IMO.. been using it since the Blackberry days. Very thorough protection, more so than just a remote wipe.

I have it set to scan once a week, and it will scan every download to make sure its safe.

The biggest pro to Android is its openness, but it also allows for some weak spots security wise. The size of the app isnt something I consider when it comes to protection against malware, especially since so much of your life is in your phone nowadays..

The free version is just fine, no need for the paid app.

Does anyone know the data/overhead used by mobile recovery (TEC feature through VZW)? I have TEC and was thinking of installing it on my phone, but I'm trying to keep things as smooth/slim as possible.

Also, will it work on a rooted phone?

I tired it on my rooted Rommed device and it comes back with an error of "device not recognized".

Skinien,

Thanks for your recommendation, am going to look around for more but think this is the one for me in addition to AVG free

News articles say smart phone thefts are on the raise and akin to the old purse snatching.

Also looking for a good calendar/contacts/backup app
