Root Remove Boot Animation

with root explorer or an easier method I don't know of yet.

just rename these files.

from
system/media/bootani.qmg
to
system/media/_bootani.qmg

and

from
system/media/samsungani.qmg
to
system/media/_samsungani.qmg

this should remove the boost and flashing Samsung logo.

it also should boot up faster too.

I tried using File Expert to change the permissions and then the file name, but it refused to rename the file. Any ideas?

You need root to mess with the boot animation.

The boot animation is in /system/media/bootanimation.zip.

If you have root access then make the partition rw and you can delete the bootanimation.zip file to get a faster boot up. You could also replace the file with one that you made or downloaded from the internet.

I replaced my shabbymod bootanimation.zip (2mb) with a 11.5mb .zip file. No harm at all. But I was very scared that I'd overload the cpu given the difference in size.

I believe they are in the kernel, in the zimage I think. So at this time I doubt we can change them.

Hey I was wondering if any body could help me with my boot animation problem. I have a rooted prevail running a stock rom and for some reason my boot animation refuses to change . I actually deleted the original boost mobile boot animation instead of copying over it like everyone says to do so I'm thinking that's the problem and if so is there a way to fix it?

In ES, press menu > settings, scroll to the bottom, check Root Explorer, reply yes or ok to any prompts, then check Mount File System, ???, Profit!
