Root Removing Boost Contacts?

/system/etc/custom_config/app/ and delete the "contact" folder. then wipe factory reset and reboot... can you not just delete them?

the folder sets the contacts in place at first boot. so they will still be there if you just delete the folder. :)


EDIT: are you sure you can't just delete them?
 
Ok...it could be an ics/jb thing... the public mobile rom doesn't have contacts set by our carrier...not on the n860 our the n861... however I actually added this feature in on the n860 when I made my rom. But in gingerbread they delete just fine if you don't want them...I hadn't had a chance to try this on the n861... but I can confirm where the contacts come from in the first place if it helps...:)
 
First, I am ignorant about this topic so take this for the very little it may be worth. I just looked in /system/etc/custom_config/app/contact and there is one file contacts_config.xml. The contents of that file do not include any contacts at all including the ones mentioned in the op. I have no idea if this helps or hurts, just passing along the info ;)

My apologies... you are right SuperR...

this is on the boost N860:

They must have found another way to put them in there... that would explain why you can not delete them... I'll check it out and I'll have an answer for you later today... :)

My boyfriend downloaded an app called contacts +. It allowed him to delete his reboost contact & changes were saved to his google contacts as well. He was then able to uninstall the app & the contact is still gone. :)

I believe the boost contacts are in the /carrier partition, not part of the rom at all. It can be dangerous editing files in that partition...do so at your own risk ;)

Just to let everyone know for the ZTE FORCE default contacts were stored in this directory /carrier/Customization/Customization.xml . All you need to do is delete the folder. Does not brick the phone. However, I would view the file before deleting and seek professional advise first.

Do you need to factory reset after deleting that file ?
