Help Repeating Screen & Vibration Text Alerts?

Yep, that would be me :D

I will give Dynamic Notifications a try. Meanwhile I hope Andrew adds that feature to Light Flow.

Well, I installed it and not getting it to work for some reason?
I installed Dynamic Notifications on my Samsung Galaxy S 3 and not getting it to work for some reason? I did the settings such as allowing "Messaging" & "Light Flow" blocked everything else. Set the time for screen to stay on at 5 minutes etc. Tested it texting myself from my wife's phone several times, no change? Lock screen looks the same, stays on 15 seconds, then off like it did before. I wanted it to stay on at least five minutes as I did NOT see any "repeating" features? I guess I have to use paid version for the repeating breathing alerts which light up the screen every x minutes. But I want to make sure the General features work first before buying the Premium features.

Adding a little more info... I noticed the instructions said:
* "Custom timeout": Select for how long Dynamic Notifications should be shown (Premium feature)
But, it is in the general features on my phone, not the premium features listed below... see screenshot:
(I have the time set for 5 min 43 sec)

Here is a screenshot of the apps allowed

If not. Go to Settings, Accessibility, and turn on Dynamic Notifications.

Nope, mine is different from yours as I'm running version 4.1.1
However, my unknown source box was unchecked... I checked the box and will try that?

Nah that wont make a difference mate. That just allows you to install apps from outwith the play store. Best to keep that unchecked for security
Have you activated dynamic notifications in Accessibility?

Yep. It is checked.

Hmm. And when you get a text with the screen off, the DM screen doesn't appear?
Was gone a few hours... yeah, that's right DM screen doesn't appear. No change with anything. Emailed the owner of app yesterday, no reply yet, not like Andrew who replied in less than a hour. I think I will just wait for his update.

If youre a google+ user (recommended), join the Active Notifications community (old name for DN) and ask the dev. He's actually pretty good at replying mate
I cant think what the problem is tbh

Yeah, I use google+ for my photography. I'll check it out.
I'm probably doing something wrong...

Emailed the owner of Dynamic Notification app three days ago, no reply yet, not like Andrew who replied in less than a hour. I will just wait for his update and uninstall Dynamic Notification.

If anyone knows of a program out there that has repeating alerts which light up the screen every x minutes or at least lets you time how long it stays on, please post it here.

Ive never mailed the dev (Nicklaus) but he's very responsive on his google+ community "active notifications"

So far I'm not seeing repeating home screen alerts, just this:
show a popup when an SMS arrives from a particular phone number
Tasker for Android
Sorry for repeat post. :o

When I hit "submit reply" the explorer page shut down and restarted.
When I checked to see if it posted... it didn't, so I posted it again... shut down again, so I said "NUTS" and shut explorer down. Now I see it did post?

Anyways, I edited it and posted this. :D

I wonder if your LightFlow setting of "turn screen on" for notifications would be a conflict. Try disabling that feature in LightFlow. Also, I think DN needs to have administrator privileges.

Sorry for not getting back sooner but hopefully that will work. I'm on 4.3 now but used both apps with no problems while still on 4.1.2.

I will try it again when my wife gets home so I can use her phone to test.
Stupid question: How do I know if I have "administrator privileges"?

Tried that... no change. :(

I wonder if my old settings before I installed these two new apps is overriding those settings as before, the screen would light up for 5 seconds and it would vibrate. The only thing that is changed is the vibration does vibrate every minute until I check the message. If I could get the screen to come on whenever it vibrates, I would be very happy. :D

I have wife's phone, so I can play with settings now...

Right now you should concentrate on getting DynamicNotifications to work since you have LightFlow doing its job for repeating vibrations. Just be sure and turn off the "switch screen on" function in LightFlow for all your notifications first.

Then you can use DynamicNotifications mainly just for lighting up the screen. I have my screen timeout set at 30 secs. Then I use the "breathing" function to repeat it for me every 5 minutes. That "breathing" function is part of the paid version only. So for now just try and get the initial notification to light up. Once you get that working you can buy the full version in order to use the breathing(repeating) function.

I turned off the "switch screen on" in light flow. Screen is still coming on for 5 seconds instead of the 3 minutes I set it for in DN. Is there a setting on my phone to shut off the feature where the display is coming on for 5 seconds?

Just looked and didn't see one. Maybe try disabling notifications in messaging? I use Textra for messaging so maybe the default messaging app is conflicting.

Is DN working for anything else like email/gmail?

Ah.... I was looking in my applications to see what was running and saw where "Lock screen Notifications" was running. So I unchecked "show notifications" and forced stop. Now the 3 min DN timed screen is on.
However, my blinking led light is not on anymore?

I only want DN to work for text mail only.
